ABOUT MCOBA

The Malay College Old Boys Association(MCOBA) has been in existence, in one form oranother, and it all began in 1929; 24 years afterthe Malay Residential School (later known as theMalay College Kuala Kangsar) opened its doorsto the first group of students.

The school hall was the historic place, where theOld Boys unanimously agreed to form TheMalay College Old Boys Association (MCOBA)on the 16th March 1929. Raja Musa bin Raja Bhot(1910-1914), was elected as its founderpresident. A distinguished gentleman of greatpersonal ability, he later became the country’sfirst Malay Judge.

The MCOBA file at the Registrar of Societiesstates that in 1955, the President was TunkuYaakob ibni Almarhum Sultan Abdul Hamid(1912-1918) and the Vice President was Dato’Ahmad bin Osman (1913-1919). Indeed, it wasthis Committee who were instrumental inorganizing the Grand Jubilee Dinner of 1955.

One of the most significant milestones forMCOBA was the construction of ‘BangunanMCOBA’, which currently houses the MCOBASecretariat.

MCOBA has been successful through the yearsbecause individuals of so many different talentsand abilities have found a common ground toshare together. That common ground is simplyan undying love for an old boyhood experience, which turned us into men.
