Hello Bradley Paterson Hall! My name is Leslie Robinson, and I will be your Hall Director for the 2014-15 Academic Year (more info on page 4). I thought I would take a moment to send out a welcome newsletter with some information about myself, your new Assistant Hall Director Andre Hebert, the motto for our community, and some summer tips! I am very excited to be in Bradley-Paterson again this year. Soon you will be back on campus, and we'll be having a great time getting to know one another and forming what I think will be the best hall community on campus! Bradley-Paterson Newsletter AUGUST 2014 | issue no: 1 Looking ahead to the new year... The motto for our Hall community (not our theme, just what we like to live by on a daily basis) is "Don't Forget to be Awesome". While I would love to be able to claim the genius that is DFTBA, all the credit is owed to the Vlogbrothers (John & Hank Green), a comedic, intelligent, and talented YouTube duo who work tremendously hard with their followers to decrease World Suck. Yes, I said World Suck. They also happen to have some amazingly hilarious videos of which I will frequently comment on if you choose to interact with me! While this is not our Hall "Theme", it is the motto that we strive to live by day in and out. What does it mean? Well the beauty is that it means something different to everyone who experiences it. In general though, it means that your behavior, actions, and choices should reflect positively on yourself, as well as enhance your life and OSU experience. More specifically, it means getting involved, studying hard, respecting yourself, your roommate, your neighbors, your hall staff, and the facilities you live in. Following policy is a great way to start this, but ultimately, engaging in the community is our goal for you! My email address is [email protected], contact me at anytime! What are time tokens you ask? They are simply put, a token (raffle ticket) that youearn when you attend campus events, building events and meetings. Onlycertain campus events can earn you tokens, but they will be well advertised

thoroughly throughout the building and by your Resident Advisors. Certain eventsare worth more than others (look over there --->).

How do they earn you prizes? At the end of each month we will have a drawingwith cool (smaller) prizes, and at the end of each semester, we'll have a drawing

Meet Your Hall Director...

If you had to change citizenship, which country wouldyou want to become a citizen of?Canada...or Belgium.

If you could ensure one single personality trait on yourchildren, what would you want it to be?Empathy. I hope my children care and feel for others.

If you could have chosen your own first name, other thanyour current one, what would it be?Hrmm...probably Jane. Simple and classic.

If you were instantly able to play one musical instrumentperfectly that you never have played before, what wouldit be?The guitar.

If you could decide what would be written on yourgravestone, what would you have inscribed?“I am and always will be the optimist. The hoper of far-

flung hopes and the dreamer of improbable dreams.”

Hello B-P!As you have already read, my name is Leslie Robinson. Icannot adequately express how excited I am to return toBradley-Paterson for my third year as your Hall Director. Asan Ohio State alumni, I feel very privileged to work in abuilding community like Bradley-Paterson. Back in theday, I graduated with my BA in Anthropology and a minorin English. After several years working professionally in theStudent Affairs Field, I pursued and graduated with my MAin College Student Personnel from Bowling Green StateUniversity.

As a person and a professional, I value hard work, apositive attitude, communication, critical thinking, FUN,respect, and quirkiness. I try to live my values on a dailybasis in how I interact with my students.

On a quirkier and more personal note, I love going to thezoo to watch the primates (and visit penguins in theirformal wear). I love all things British, especially TV/Movies(i.e. Doctor Who, Sherlocke, getting into Downton Abbey,Simon Peg movies). My favorite season is Fall (football, holidays, cool weather, need I say more?). I love todance, bake, cook, read, write fiction pieces, spend toomuch time on social media, go to live concerts, listen tomusic loudly (sing more loudly and off-key), and spendquality time with my friends, family, and students.

Above all I believe in making life amazing, doing more forothers than myself, and creating a "no regrets" story of mylife. I cannot wait to meet and get to know who eachand every one of you are. See you soon :).

I am not onlyabout to embark on the journey of being Bradley-Paterson’s Assistant Hall Director but I amalso about tostart my first year as a graduate student in the HigherEducation and Student Affairs program here at OSU! Ichose to pursue a degree in Student Affairs because itis, what I believe, my life calling. I am so passionateabout working with students and enhancing theeducationsystemthat it reallywasano-brainer. IchoseOSUbecause it’sawonderful university inavibrantandprogressive city. I could go on and on…

A little more about me… My birthday is the same asBritney Spears (December 2), which makes me aSagittarius. My favorite thing in the world is food. Beingfrom“the south” I havea taste for southern spicy foods. If you share this love, let’s chat. I also enjoy coldweather (appropriate right?), talking, dancingspastically, drivingmy car Rhonda, and laughing. I justgot into binge watching TV series on Netflix so myfavorite TV show fluctuates often. My favorite moviesare Hairspray, Bridesmaids, Obsessed, Taken, andmore. My favorite color is red… sometimes black. I liketo read anything emotional and/or romantic and/orsuspenseful. But above all…my heart is overjoyedwithhandcrafted things. I absolutely love letters, cards, paintings, songs, poems, or anything created.

I can’t seem to find the words to express how excitedI am to be the AHD for the BP community. This is aboutto be the greatest year and I cannotwait tomeet you! Please know that I amhere to talkwhenever youneed. If there is anything that I can do to enhance your timehere in BP for the 2014-2015 school year, please let meknow!

I’ll leave you with a quote that I cherish dearly: “Whatlies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matterscompared to what lies within us.” –Ralph WaldoEmerson
