BPW  Mission Statement

BPW develops the professional, business and leadership potential of women on all

levels through advocacy, mentoring, networking, skill building and economic empowerment programs and projects

around the world.

Young BPW Programme

Started in 1985 during the XVII International Congress under the

theme “Youth Today - Leaders Tomorrow”

1985 - 2014

Young BPWProvide women under 35 their own forum.

The MENTORING programme in BPW allows targeted exchange of experience and

ensures the transfer of knowledge between members from different generations or fields of work, and provides support for the start of the job or return to work in form of Business Start-up and career planning, as well as for the reconciliation of work and family. Local,

national and international networks:

• Encourage and support working women in all walks of life.• Give and take new ideas, suggestions and inspiration. • Is a forum for professional ideas and experiences. • Help shape local women's issues. • Help in establishing new personal and business contacts. • Provide access to a wide range of experience and professional. • Enable location, nationality and age-independent

exchange of experience.

• Camp BPW: St. Johnsbury BPW, Vermont, USA: skills in financial planning, goal-setting, decision-making, career planning

• Annual Public Speaking Contest: BPW UK: Skills-building• Self-Development Program: Young BPW Nigeria: job-seeking, new

business start-up, career development• Pregnant teenagers programs: Sacramento BPW, California, USA; Jeju

Island BPW, Korea: Alternative school, self-development, job-seeking & dress-for-success skills, computer and vocational training

• Elsie Bernand Home for Girls, shelter for girls in need (est. 35 yrs; 600+ admits): St. Andrews BPW, Jamaica: capacity-building

• Girl Power! Program: Jeju Island BPW, Korea, with Fulbright scholars (US): empowerment camp, mentoring, self-development, public event at 2014 BPW Int'l Congress

• Mentoring for Girls Program: Jeju Island BPW, Korea: motivational talks in girls' high schools

Programs for Young Women (age 18-35)

• Women in Ethic Business Expo (June 2015): BPW Milan, Italy, with BPW Europe: day dedicated to highlighting young entrepreneurs

• Malaysia Start-up Challenges (May 2015): BPW Kuala Lumpur: BPW Innovation Platform, led by youth

• First Generation program: Bremen BPW, Germany: for 1st-generation college students; subsidy, BPW membership (sr yr + 1st yr employ); mentoring

• Bursary/Internship program: Hong Kong BPW (former): female university business majors• First Impressions program: Cayman Island BPW (Caribbean): job interview & dress-for-

success skills, internship opportunities• Regional Job-Matching Platform: BPW Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: using Quork programming

to match young members with BPW internships throughout the Asia-Pacific region, based on their skills

• Women's skill-building center: BPW Nepal: computer, English, professional (beautician, cooking, fashion design)

• Women on Boards campaign: Young Women track: BPW Europe: training, advocacy for capacity-building

• Scholarship Fund: St. Andrews BPW, Jamaica: 100 scholarships to high school girls in 42 schools across Jamaica
