Benefits drawn from RFID

• Doctors punctuality

• Reduction in time between change in duties

• Better and good management of staff

Page 12: Bpr Final Presentation

• Currently, the three main areas benefiting from RFID technology in the health care industry are:

• Asset Management – being able to locate a mobile asset at all times results in better asset utilization which reduces procurement and leases and dramatically reduces the amount of time your valuable staff spends searching for equipment.

• Patient Care – being able to correctly identify a patient and know where that patient is at all times results in improved safety and bed placement.

• Inventory Management – being able to identify what you actually have in your current inventory and where that inventory is being consumed reduces out-of-stock situations and the amount of consumables not being billed to a patient.

Barriers

• Resistant to change

• De-moralization of employees (agitated about the surveillance system)

• Core processes not aligning with the goals and objectives of the hospital

• Cost of the tags (0.5 cents per tag)

• Food facilities not up to the mark

Page 29: Bpr Final Presentation

Addressing the barriers

• Bring awareness, that there is a need for change• HMIS system that integrates all processes

together, pilot test before usage.• Smart label: One advantage of the thinner smart

labels over conventional smart tags is that they can be manufactured in bulk by special printers. (0.25-0.40 cents)

• Catering
