BOARD OF DIRECTORS The Board of Directors is an elected position that serves to direct the business of the Homeowner’s Association. The Board is made up of seven members elected for two-year terms. The current Board of Directors hold regular monthly meetings and oversee the following five committees:

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY INFORMATION

AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE Florida law requires that all automobile operators have No-Fault Insurance. Under No-Fault Insurance, your insurance company pays for treatment of any personal injuries that you receive as a result of an auto accident, no matter who is at fault. AUTOMOBILE TAGS Within 30 days of moving to Florida, you must obtain a Florida license plate if you are employed here, your children attend school in the state, you claim a homestead exemption or you register to vote. To get your license plate, you must take your vehicle registration, proof of insurance and automobile title to any tag office.

DRIVER’S LICENSES If you become a resident of Florida, are employed here, or enroll your children in area public schools, you must have a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days. The license is good for six years and is renewable by your birth date. If you have a valid license from another state, you need only to take a sight test. The closest Driver’s License Office to Boyette Springs is located at 10101 E. Adamo Drive at Brandon Crossings Shopping Center, west of I-75 on Hwy. 60 near Home Depot. Learners’ Permits (restricted licenses) are issued for 15 year olds. After having a Learner’s Permit for 6 months and/or at the age of 16, a regular operator’s license is issued. Each person, requesting a Learners’ Permit, must complete a four-hour class (offered in schools) for Drug, Alcohol and Traffic Awareness prior to applying for the license. Parsons Avenue (at the northeast corner of the Robertson Street and Parsons Avenue). New Service: 223-0800 Service Outages: 223-0800 Account/Billing Inquiries: 223-0800 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION The state offers a Homestead Exemption to Florida residents who own and occupy a home as of January 1sat of any given year. The exemption is $25,000 off the assessed valuation of your home. Military with 10% or more VA Disability $5,000 additional for a total of $30,000. You must file for the exemption with the County Property Appraiser between January 1st and March 1st for the first time. Then, it will renew automatically on an annual basis. The county will send the renewal by mail. No action is required on your part to renew. Homeowners 65 and older additional exemptions apply call number below for qualification information. Library Telephone Number: 671-7690 PET LICENSES Dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies and licensed by the time they reach four months old, and annually thereafter. Licenses may be obtained from area veterinarians after your pet has been inoculated against rabies. It is recommended that you get your pet’s inoculation and license at the same time, to avoid confusion in your pet’s county records. In Hillsborough County, dogs and cats (all pets) must be kept under the absolute control of the owner, restrained by a fence, leash, cord or chain. RECYCLING Hillsborough County has implemented an outstanding recycling program for all homeowners. This is an important step in reducing wastes that destroy or damage our beautiful Florida environment and all residents are encouraged to participate in reducing the quantity of solid waste by making a commitment to personally recycle as many household products as possible. East Bay Sanitation picks up recyclable items and will provide all residents with 2 free recycle bins for individual pre-sorting or recyclable items. If you do not have both green and blue recycling bins, please call East Bay Sanitation to request that the bins be delivered to you:

Blue Bin: Paper Products Includes newspapers and newspaper inserts (must remove plastic bags), magazines, catalogs, telephone books, corrugated cardboard boxes (cut in 3’ x 3’ sections or less), brown paper bags, mixed office paper (including fax paper), and junk mail (remove all plastic wrapping or non-paper items before placing in bin). Green Bin: Plastic, Glass and Steel or Aluminum Cans Includes plastic bottles and jugs, must be resin Type 1 or 2. (If the item has a neck or screw-on-cap it’s probably a Type 1 or 2, but check on the bottom of a recycling symbol in which a number is indicated). Examples are soda, water, juice, detergent, bleach and fabric softener bottles and kitty litter plastic jugs. NO PLASTIC BAGS. Glass bottles can be any color. It is not necessary to remove labels but they must be rinsed out. Steel/bi-metal (tin) and aluminum cans. Includes all fruit and vegetable (grocery) can (remove and discard lids). Soda and beer cans may be crushed for added convenience. NO PIE TINS OR FOIL WRAP. Yard Waste All tree and shrubbery trimmings are recyclable. They must be bagged or bundled and not included in with regular garbage. Trimmings cannot exceed 4’ in length or 50 pounds per pickup.

Batteries Household batteries are no longer recyclable, please dispose of them in your regular garbage. Hazardous Wastes Rechargeable batteries, motor oil, paints, propane tanks and other hazardous material, require special handling. TELEPHONE SERVICE Residential telephone service to this area is provided by Verizon. Their Brandon Office (Phone Mart) is located in Regency Square Shopping center at 2478 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon. Local Calling: Currently calls to Tampa, Lutz, Land O’ Lakes, Oldsmar, Keystone, Ruskin, Wimauma and to Plant city telephone numbers are considered to be local calling areas from Riverview and can be called with no additional charges. Extended Calling: Currently calls to Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Safety Harbor and Tarpon Springs (Pinellas County) as well as calls to Zephyrhills (within Hillsborough County) and Mulberry (in Polk County) are charged $.25 per call from residential telephone lines. There may be other areas included within the Extended Calling areas by Verizon. It is not necessary to dial the 1 before the 7-digit number for these calls, however, calls to Pinellas County now require the dialing of Area Code 727. Yard waste and trash are scheduled for pickup on Mondays. Recyclables and trash are scheduled for pickup on Thursday. Trash must be placed on the curb no later than 6:00 a.m. of that day for removal. WATER RESTRICTIONS Due to limited rainfall, Hillsborough County is under water restrictions. Please refer to your water bill for current restrictions.

VOTER REGISTRATION You must be at least 18 years old (with proof of age) and be a permanent resident of the State of Florida to register to vote. Registration must be 30 days prior to an election in order to vote in that election. For more information, call: Supervisor or Elections 272-5850

REGIONAL PARKS ALDERMAN’S FORD – 757-3801 State Road 39 (south of SR-60 in eastern Hillsborough County) History abounds at this 1,141-acre park, one of the first fording spots on the Alafia River. The Alafia is one of the most popular canoe spots in the state, and the park includes a modern, erosion-free canoe launch, several picnic areas connected by a pedestrian/bicycle loop path, and a first-hand view of the abundant plant life via accompanying boardwalk and footbridges. EUREKA SPRINGS – 744-5536 Eureka Springs Rd. (north of Interstate 4, near junction of I-4 & US 301) This 31-acre park, the only botanical garden in the park system, features a greenhouse, trellised walks, interpretive trails, boardwalks, and a picnic area. It was developed through the many years’ work of Albert Greesburg, who donated the site to Hillsborough County in 1967. LETTUCE LAKE – 987-6204 Fletcher Avenue at Hillsborough River (just west of I-75) This 240-acre park offers wooded picnic areas, a bicycle path, a jogging trail, and is complete with a meandering fitness course. An interpretive center featuring exhibits leads to two boardwalks and an observation tower where visitors can view the cypress swamp with its abundance of birds and other wildlife. LITHIA SPRINGS – 744-5572 Lithia Springs Rd. (southeast of Brandon) The 160-acre park, located on the Alafia River, offers varied plant communities, river cypress swamps, hardwood hammocks and high sand

hills that provide terrain not often seen in Hillsborough County. The park’s major attraction is the natural spring, which provides for excellent swimming since the water temperature remains at 72 degrees year round. A bathhouse, playground and picnic facilities, 40 camping sites and two shower houses make it a popular camping spot. EDWARD MEDARD – 757-3802 Turkey Creek Road, (South of SR-60 in eastern Hillsborough County) This park, on a reservoir operated by the Southwest Florida Water Management District is one of the most popular fresh-water fishing spots in Hillsborough County. Amenities include boat-launching facilities, camping, swimming, picnic areas and a fishing pier/boardwalk, that leads to an observation tower and a small island within the reservoir. E. G. SIMMONS – 671-7655 19th St., N.W. (off US-41 in south Hillsborough County) This 469-acre park and preserve near Ruskin has picnic areas and a campground with a beautiful waterfront view. A public beach provides sunning or swimming, while a boat launch gives access to salt-water fishing and boating. Fishing piers, bank fishing areas, and bird-watching among the shallow waters of the surrounding mangrove swamps make this a true Florida retreat.
