You should know that Colombian people are relaxing and they enjoy their life every each minute. For sure you must to be patience and relaxing also with the stressful things. In Colombia it’s normal to take a shower every single day and if is in the coastal zone you would take a shower two times at day.

Colombian people like to hug and kiss when they meet a new person, so don’t be afraid of that. We really enjoy to go out and have fun with friends and new people. But also the most Colombian people are Catholic and they area little bit conservative, so we usually kiss a guy after some dates and we get in a relationship with a prudent time

Our Food, Music, Clothes How to be have?

Colombia has 250 different kinds of fruit, easily available and cheap. In any season you can get them. Tropical fruits as mango, banano, papaya, guayaba, lulo or maracuya.

The typical Colombian food is cereal such as rice and corn. The potato and cassava are required in the Colombian dishes. Ajiaco, bandeja paisa, tamal, ternera a la llanera, all kind of fish, and arepa.

Money

The current currency in Colombia is Peso (COP). The COP denomination is in coins of 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1.000 pesos. Bill of 1.000, 2.000, 5.000, 10.000, 20.000 and 50.000 pesos COP. Foreign currencies can be easily exchanged in banks and exchanges offices.

The current exchange rate is: • 1 USD = 1.800 COP • 1 EUR = 2.213 COP • 1 BRL = 886 COP

Electricity

Electricity in Colombia is 110 Volts, alternating at 60 cycles per second.

If you travel to Colombia with a device that does not accept 110 Volts at 60 Hertz, you will need a voltage converter Type B plug.

Weather

The Climate of Colombia is characterized for being tropical and isothermal as a result of this geographical location near the Equator presenting variotions within five natural regions and depending on the altitude, temperature, humidity, wind and rainfall.

In Bogota the weather is almost always 19°. Each region maintains an average temperature through the year.

We recommend charging umbrella. In Bogota are cheap and readily available.

Legality Process.

1. If you are in match process, you will have to send some documents, and you will be given a deadline for it. If complete documentation is not timely sent, you must pay a 25 USD penalty.

2. The TN fee is paid by the company NOT by the trainee.

3. According to Colombian law, you must be registered under local health services. AIESEC will provide you with all the information and support on this topic since we have national agreement with insurance company: Suramericana. The cost is a monthly payment of $130.000 COP ($72 USD) and must be paid by the trainee.

4. Regarding the Colombian law, you must get the Foreign ID Card in order to be registered in Colombia during your internship. The cost is a unique payment of $149.650 COP and must be paid by the trainee.

5. In the event of having to renew your VISA, you will pay the cost of it.
