July 12, 1997 Malala was born in the
Swat Valley in Pakistan.
September 1, 2008 Malala gave a speech in
Peshawar. She is speaking against the Taliban trying to take away her education as a
girl.
January 3, 2009 Malala begins blogging about her life under the Taliban’s
rule.
February 21, 2009 The local Taliban leader declares that girls may
attend school if they wear burqas.
May 1, 2009 Malala and her family leave their home because of war.
October 1, 2011 Malala is nominated for
the International Children’s Peace Prize
July 24, 2009 Malala and her family return to their home.
October 9, 2012 Malala is shot by a member of the Taliban on her way
home from school. She makes a full recover.
January 15, 2009 The Taliban declares that
no girl will go to school after this date.

July 12, 2013 Malala speaks at the
United Nations.
October 10, 2014 Malala is awarded the Nobel
