Calling all Library Books – please bring these back in on Monday so we can sort all the books ready for the Summer Term. Tuesday 26 March: FoBVPS are holding an open meeting to organise the summer fundraiser at 8pm at school. Please come along and help plan this exciting event. Wednesday 27 March: Governors in the playground – come and share your views 8.30-9am Homework in – please note that certificates will come out after the holidays giving time for teachers to look through the work. Lost property out in the playground. 2.30 pm Helping Hands Tea Party – we’ve sent out the invites and are looking forward to you joining us. A big thank you to all our parents, carers and friends who have helped this term. All helpers welcome to come along. 2.45 pm THE GREAT EXHIBITION for Key Stage 1. Come and look at some of the amazing art work by Maple, Chestnut and Hazel classes. Optional Artist Dress Up for children. End of term reports out to parents. Please note that we are trialling these reports and may make some changes next year – your feedback is most welcome. Football Tournament at Harlands for Year 3 and 4 Boys’ Squad Thursday 28 March: The Easter Story in Assembly. DRESS UP ALERT! Toga and Theatre Dress Up Day for Year 4. Last day of term. Forest School – as part of our commitment to helping the environment and the ecology we will be reducing the number of children out in the wood at any one time. Half the class will go out in the morning and half in the afternoon. The class teacher will remain in school to work with children. We will write to you with more information and will advertise this outside on the fence and in the notice board. Chestnut Class will go out on Monday 15 April (first day back). Hazel Class will go out on Tuesday 16 April. Admissions 2013: The Governors of BVPS would like to clarify that our intake for September 2013 is 45 and not 60 as reported in the local Conservative paper intouch. The school’s published admission number for 2014 is 60. World Water Day today – take a look at the Year 3 Water leaflet. Did you know? Romans used powdered mouse brains as toothpaste! Yuck! Did you know? The first day of spring is also called the vernal equinox. We’re saying goodbye to Mrs Witts at the end of this term. Mrs Witts helped us to start our Forest School and has worked with us as a Forest School Leader to develop and deliver our Forest School programme. She has also worked as a cover teacher in school. Thank you so much for all your help Mrs Witts! Key Stage 1 had a talk from Mrs Allen on painting landscapes. They heard about how to think about form, distance, colour, light and shade. They looked at one of Mrs Allen’s paintings and asked her questions about how she painted it. Then they spent some time painting and drawing their own landscape pictures. They also looked closely at the work of other artists. Year 4 went to Bignor Roman Villa and saw the stunning remains of a Roman home and farm with world-class mosaic floors. They found out why the Romans settled there and took part in a workshop looking at different artefacts. Next week they are writing Roman plays and dressing for the part! Look at Amber’s computer generated Roman face mosaic. Can you guess what great historical event Leah is writing about? There was a rumbling and I walked outside. In a rush I pushed everyone to see what was happening. There was a black cloud in the sky coming from a mountain. We packed some bags and we found a boat. The mountain started raining, rocks fell down and the roofs fell in because of the stones on top. I saw the smoke coming. People were screaming. All welcome, particularly those with an interest in finance and community engagement. Paperwork out soon. We’re writing an action plan in response to comments on the Governors’ Parent Survey.
