There are a lot of words that

    describe Immanuel:

    Friendly.

    Committed.

    Biblical.

    Generous.

Now there is a new word rising to the top: Bold.

Over the past three years, Immanuel has stepped into the unknown

with great courage and boldness. We have a new name. We have a

new pastor. We have a new mission. And now, we are preparing for

a new season of ministry by boldly making plans for a new building.

A long time ago, another group of Gods people found themselves

in a similar situation. As the Israelites prepared to enter the land of

promise, God told them to go forward in courage and without fear.

Though they didnt know what to expect, they stepped out in bold

faith, believing that God would go before them and empower them

to walk in victory. (You can read more about this story in the book

    of Joshua.)

This is an incredibly exciting time at Immanuel! We have been

planning and praying for this moment for several years. And now

the time has come! On behalf of our church leadership, I present to

you BOLD: forward in our spiritual journey.

The BOLD campaign is much more than a fund-raiser. It is about

far more than a building. It is about taking hold of the calling God

has for us: to share the love and good news of Jesus Christ for the

transformation of lives and the renewal of our community.

In this brochure, you will read about the project we are undertaking

and how it will further the mission of Immanuel. You will get a sense

of the incredible opportunity and the step of faith this building

represents. But most importantly, I pray that you will hear an

invitation to join God in this work. Through the faithful prayers and

sacrificial giving of the people of Immanuel, we will see this project

accomplished. I want you to be part of it! As you read, ask God to

begin to show you how He wants you to join us as we boldly move

    forward in our spiritual journey.

Our church began when a small group of residents began

meeting in a middle school in Woodbridge forming St.

Margarets Episcopal Church. And so, our journey began.

October 11, 1964 we held our first service in our new building

located on the hill at Church Hill Drive. For more than 50

years our church doors have been wide open to all who want

to learn more about Jesus and become his followers.

We planted a second church which is still active today as All

    Saints Anglican Church.

Differences in theology and focus led us to separate from our

former denomination. We affiliated with other churches as

founding members of the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic within

the Anglican Church in North America.

We dedicated and revamped space in our parish hall for the

Prince William County Free Clinic to provide valuable medical

services to our countys less fortunate residents.

We left our property at Church Hill Drive as our journey

    continued.

With renewed energy and determination, our

congregation voted in 2013 to change our

name to Immanuel Anglican Church, glorifying

God who is with us and who continues to lead

    us along our journey.

In July 2013, Rev. Clint Kerley answered Gods

call and became our new Rector. In seeking our

new church home, our journey over the past

three years has led us to share worship space

at All Saints Anglican Church, meet at the Dale

City Fire Hall on Hillendale Avenue, and now

to have our worship services at Beville Middle

    School on Dale Boulevard.

Through each step of our journey, Immanuel

remains focused on our calling to glorify

God and to spread His word throughout our

    community and the world.

It is exciting for a church to think

about building a new building and

    creating a new home. However,

the leadership of Immanuel has a

    firm conviction that this building

has one purpose: to further the

mission and vision that God has

given to us. With that in mind,

how will this new building help us

    Worship, Grow, and Serve?

The largest single use of space in our new building will be the

sanctuary. As Anglicans, the central focus of our life together is

worship. Our new building will have a beautiful space for us to

gather together before God and worship him through music, the

proclamation of his word, and the celebration of Eucharist.

Another significant part of our space will be used to help people

grow in their faith. We will have bright, fun, and secure classrooms

in which our children and youth will hear from the Bible about

Gods love for them in Jesus Christ. Families will see that we take

seriously our mission to partner with them to raise up the next

generation of followers of Jesus Christ.

We will also have plenty of room for our mid-week mens and

womens Bible studies. Having our own building will allow us to add

to our current offerings and provide on-site nursery care for thoseparticipating in the studies. Small groups and fellowship gatherings

will have ample accommodation as we encourage the adults of

Immanuel to grow deeper in their faith in Christ.

As soon as we identified the land on which our building is to be built,

Immanuels leadership began asking the question, How will we serve in our

new neighborhood? We believe that God has placed us on Hoadly Road for

a purpose. Our building will give us a home out of which we can serve our

    neighborhood.

We also see this new building as a place from which we will be sent weekly

on mission to renew our community. We will train our members and call

them to involve themselves in Gods work of reaching the world with the

    love and compassion of Jesus.

    COMMITMENT TO CHRIST. THEY ARE

    PRAYERFUL AND ORTHODOX, AND STRIVE

TO DEEPEN THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF AND

    RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD.

The first phase of our project is a 10,000 square foot

building. We are working with architects to design a

facility that is beautiful, sacred, and multifunctional.

The sanctuary will seat 239 people in a space that is

inspirational and calls us as the family of God to meet

with our Father in worship. It will be full of windows

and natural light that bring the beauty of our tree-

filled property into the sanctuary as we worship. The

sanctuary will also serve as a fellowship space that will

allow us to continue the great Immanuel tradition of

gathering as a community for special events.

The lower level will house discipleship space that will

be used on Sunday mornings for children and youth

Sunday school. They will walk down a bright and airy

stairwell into the welcome area where they will check

in to this secure space. Classrooms will be designed

and decorated to engage young disciples minds and

imaginations as they learn about Jesus. Throughout

the rest of the week, these classrooms will be usedfor Adult Bible studies, training for service in our

community and beyond, and ministry meetings.

PRAYERPrayer starts it all. Nothing prepares our heart to respond to God like

seeing His heart through prayer. Dont rush itthe longer you pray

God, show me how to give, the more ways He can show you.

PROPORTIONALThis is about faith and sacrifice, not just quantity. One of the guiding

principles behind this opportunity is equal sacrifice, not equal gifts.

All giving in the Bible was proportional because God has given us dif-

ferent amounts of resources. God is interested in our heartsnot just

    amounts.

PEACEGod will grant us a peace that passes all understanding through the

knowledge that we have made a prayerful and proportional pledge

commitment that is pleasing to Him. People experience this in different

ways. Often, it comes by a confirming word or situation after youve

made your decision. Other times, it is a general sense of calm, knowing

that you are moving in Gods perfect will.

    PLEASING

This is about seeking a commitment decision that is pleasing to

God. For most of us, it is easy to find what is pleasing to us. But to

find what is pleasing to God, well have to stretch our faith through

prayer and the leadership of the Holy Spirit.

Here are a few good questions to help you determine if your

pledge amount is pleasing to God:

Does this amount really require me to trust God? (2 Cor. 9:6-8)

Does this amount show I value my hope of eternal reward more

than the material things on earth? (I Tim. 6:19) Does this amount represent a genuine sacrifice? (2 Sam. 24:24)

Does this amount express the level of thanksgiving I have for

the ways Christ and His church have blessed my life and family?

    (Psalms 54:6)

THE FOUR PS TO A GOOD PLEDGE GIFT DECISION

IT IS EXCITING TO THINK THAT WE ARE COLLECTIVEL

CREATING A LEGACY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS THAT

CAN BE EASILY EXPANDED YEARS FROM NOW AS THE

    CONGREGATION CONTINUES TO GROW.

PRACTICAL STEPS FOR PREPARING TO PLEDGEPRACTICE PRIORITY BUDGETING

Many families may choose to rearrange their financial priorities and

give up something in their current budget in order to give to BOLD.

REDIRECT PRESENT EXPENDITURESOften we have short-term expenditures or loans for special needs

such as a car loan or a childs college expenses. Once these

loans are paid or expenses end, cash flow is freed up that can be

    redirected to BOLD.

INCREASE GIVING WITH INCREASEDINCOMESometimes we know of bonuses or raises that we will receive over

the next few years. Families can decide to delay increasing their

    lifestyle, and instead, commit the

    increased income to BOLD.

DONATE ASSETSThere are some incredible tax advantages to giving appreciatedassets such as stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.

GIFT GUIDE THE FOUNDATION GOALWeve prepared the following charts to help guide our path to

    three different goals.

While final costs for the first phase of the building program are

not yet known, it is estimated that the project total for the site

preparation and building construction (excluding land purchase)

will be around $3.5 million. With that in mind, here are three

possible outcomes for the BOLD Campaign:

Before you begin to decide on a dollar amount to give, spend time

in prayer talking to God about what he is calling you to give andthe privilege you will have partnering with him in this BOLD work!

Meeting this goal will allow us to move forward with initial site

preparation and the architectural documents for construction, but will

likely require another capital campaign prior to building construction.

There is a lot of excitement at Immanuel about our new building and the ministry

opportunities it represents. So, it may seem obvious that our call to give is for the

purpose of building our new church. But seeing the building completed is only a small

part of why we should give.

First, giving is a spiritual calling. Throughout the Bible, God called his people to give.

Giving sacrificially allowed his people to build their faith as they remembered that

God is the giver of all that we have. As we give to him, he will faithfully provide all that

    we need.

Second, giving is a spiritual privilege. It is an amazing honor to partner with God tosee his work accomplished. Imagine the excitement the people had as they helped

build the tabernacle in the wilderness or sent Paul on one of his missionary journeys. In

this project, we have the privilege of constructing a church building that will be used

by God to impact generations to come!
