Make (48) copies of the Small Triangle paper-piecing pattern. Glue or tape the (2) Large Triangle pieces together, matching the center lines. Repeat for the small triangle sections (Fig. 1).

SewingAll seam allowances are 1⁄4” (.64cm) and pieces are sewn right sides together.

Block Assembly 1. Place the paper pattern with the printed side face

down on your work surface. Place a side piece right side up on paper above section 1 so it extends past the stitching line.

2. Place a rough-cut Fabric I triangle right side down along the edge of side piece (Fig. 2).

15. Following the Block Assembly diagram on page 6, sew a large triangle to the section 10 strip and a medium triangle to the section 11 strip to complete each block. Make a total of (12) blocks of each configuration using the colors shown on the Quilt Layout on page 6. Trim each block to 81⁄2” (21.59cm) square.

Quilt Top Assembly16. Following the Quilt Layout on page 6 for color

placement and orientation, lay out the blocks in (6) rows of (8) blocks each.

17. Alternately sew together the blocks in each vertical column with a 1” x 81⁄2” (2.54cm x 21.59cm) Fabric I sashing strip between. Number the columns for easier assembly.

18. Sew the remaining Fabric I sashing strips together end to end to make a long strip. Cut (7) 1” x 68” (2.54cm x 172.72cm) lengths for the vertical sashings, and (2) 1” x 52” (2.54cm x 132.08cm) lengths for the top/bottom sashings.

19. Alternately sew together the block columns with the 1” x 68” (2.54cm x 172.72cm) Fabric I sashing strips, aligning adjacent seams. Stitch a strip to each quilt top side edge.

20. Sew (1) 1” x 52” (2.54cm x 132.08cm) Fabric I strip to the top and another to the bottom of the quilt top.

Finishing 21. Sew together the (7) 21⁄2” x WOF (6.35cm x WOF)

Fabric A binding strips end to end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Press the binding strip in half wrong sides together.

22. Layer the backing (wrong side up), batting, and quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim excess batting and backing even with the top after quilting is completed.

23. Leaving an 8” (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12” (30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1⁄4” (.64cm) and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt.

24. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place.
