I-SWEEEP Competition

March 20, 2015

Luke Farrell and Sarah Jacobs have been invited to participate in I-SWEEEP, Intemational Sustainable World Energy Engineering Environment Prolect Olympiad. The competition will take place from Thursday, May 71h through Monday, May II' in Houston, Texas.

These students were selected while participating in the Long Island Science and Engineering Fair (LISEF). Representatives from this fair were at LISEF and were highly impressed with our students' project. The representatives contacted the research teacher, Jocelyn Handley-Pendleton, on Thursday, March 191h and invited the students to attend.

We have never participated in I-SWEEEP in the past; therefore, paperwork was not submitted for this competition. A new category, medical prevention, was created, for which their project qualifies. Airfare, food and hotel accommodations would be included for the students. The district would need to pay for the airfare, hotel and food for the chaperone as follows:

Airfare: roundtrip from JFK is $300 Hotel: $150 per night x four nights is $600 Food is $60 per day x 4= $240 Total= $1140
