The Storm News: We are still collecting STUFF! Our rum-mage sale will be taking place in April and we need more items to sell! If you can clean out your house and donate what is no longer needed that would be great! Also we are encouraging every-one to ask family members and friends to do the same so we can have a suc-cessful rummage sale. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Riley Skate Park right in Farmington Hills. This skate park was built in Farm-ington Hills back in 2003 solely on do-nations from the community. Since then, Riley has done so much for the youth of the community of Farmington Hills. The skate park provides a safe spot for kids to learn how to skate or improve on their skills. They also pro-vide summer camps for kids all ages and have Skating Monday at Lanigan elementary, getting kids active at a young age. The reason we are raising money for the park is this: Back around Thanks-giving of 2014, the skate park was bro-ken into and vandalized with spray paint everywhere. Up until that point Ri-ley had been saving up money to pro-

vide lights and a security system to make the park that much safer. Since the vandal-ism, Riley has had to use money from their donations to clean up the park. So that's where Salem comes in! We want this to be not only a great fundraiser but a community event bringing everyone from the city of Farmington/Farmington Hills out to donate to such an awesome cause.

Help Needed to Host the Breakfast for the Rotating Shelter Project

March 3, 2015

The Detroit-Wayne County Rotating Shelter was begun by and at Cass in 1988.

Modeled after the one in South Oakland County (SOS), Cass arranges for area

churches from a variety of denominations to "host" homeless people for a

week at a time, October through May. Up to 80 people a day are accepted

into the program. They shower and go through security at the Scott Building

and, then, are transported to the sponsoring church for dinner and sleeping.

The next morning, the homeless have breakfast with the host congregation

and are then bussed back to Scott for school, employment and other activi-

ties.

The Salem Mission Committee will be providing and serving breakfast for this program on March 3rd, 6:30am at

The Newburgh United Methodist Church

We will be serving:

Cold Cereal, individual boxes

Muffins

Yogurt

Orange Juice

Milk

Bananas & Oranges

Please sign- up to help serve and or donate food. The Sign-up sheets are posted in Fellowship Hall.

Thank you.

Easter Sunday Blooms!

On Easter Sunday, help beautify our sanctuary by bringing flowers to decorate the altar—lilies, tulips, daffodils, irises, or whatever you want. Flowers from the grocery store, or the florist; flowers in pots or vases—all will be beautiful! _______________________________________________

One Great Hour of Sharing - March 29, 2015

The One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) special mission offering of the United Church of Christ involves you in disaster, refugee/immigration, and development ministries throughout the world. When a disaster strikes or people are displaced or made refugees by violence or extreme poverty, you are part of the immediate response and of the long-term recovery. Through OGHS you engage in holistic development programs including health care, education, agriculture, food sustainability, micro-financing and women’s empowerment. Because the UCC relates in mutual partnership to churches and organizations through Global Ministries and worldwide re-sponse & recovery networks, your contributions to One Great Hour of Sharing put you in the right place at the right time for the relief, accompa-niment and recovery of the most vulnerable. You meet immediate needs and you address the underlying causes that create those needs in the first place. Please consider giving to One Great Hour of Sharing on Sunday, March 29, 2015.
