Greetings Pony Lovers –

Mark has graciously given me one more chance to use this space to address the Club. I’d like to take this opportunity to offer a big “thank you” to all of you for the outpouring of appreciation expressed at the Holiday Party.

I was totally surprised by the plaque and gift basket in recognition of my tenure in office. Six years ago when I accepted the nomination extended by our long-standing members to become President, I had no plan, or even idea, what I was getting into. Fortunately, there followed a big infusion of new members, eager to make friends and get involved. It shows how much can be accomplished when a group of like-minded people come to-gether and “click.”

Speaking of the party, I’d like to thank Charlyn, Mark and their committee for putting on a fantastic Holiday Party for us. Ninety members were there to share in the fun and fellowship. The Hyeholde is a beautiful, intimate venue for such an occasion. Be sure to check our website for the wonderful photos Toni & Jennie took of the event.

Since most of you probably don’t want to come to a meeting on New Year’s Day, the next meeting is instead scheduled for January 8th at King’s Family Restaurant in Harmarville. Let’s hope there’s a break in all this winter weather to allow for an-other big turnout.

Mark and Charlyn join Jennie & me in wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest of New Years.

Keep those motors runnin’,

Ken

TRCCC: Ken reported that Ron provided a report from their November meeting. Ron has declined to be our rep for 2014 but recommended we continue our membership even if we don’t have a representative attending their meetings. For our new members, Ken explained that the Tri River Car Club Council (TRCCC) keeps car clubs (about 8 or 10 clubs are members) up-to-date on issues, such as increasing tire pressure depending on the weather, statistics on some of the issues, and lobby-ing State Representatives. Ken is attempting to get permission to digitize their bi-monthly newsletters so we can post them to our Members Only section of our website. Ken B. and Scott U. expressed interest in representing GPMC at the TRCCC. Ken asked for a motion to renew our membership with TRCCC. It was moved by Al S. and 2nd by Mike D. to renew ($20) our TRCCC membership for 2014. Motion carried. MCA: Ed asked the new GPMC members, if they joined MCA this year as a new member, to send him their MCA number and expiration date. The MCA National Board Meeting was held on Oct 13, 2013. Membership is now 12,149 – highest ever. There are Judging changes - OD/DD (Occasional and Daily Driven) classes are now First, Second, and Third, while other classes are Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Motion was made and approved to change OD/DD classes to Gold, Silver, and Bronze for 2014. MCA Grille Medallion program: As more GPMC members attend MCA National and Grand National shows, you may want to know about this program. You get points for winning an award at a National or Grand National Show (Gold or Silver award, and first or second in OD/DD classes). Twenty points awarded since 1997 are required for a medallion. Two of our members are close to, or already have, received a Grille Medallion. Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration: Registration is available on the website – www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com. MORE Program - If we get 20 GPMC members to register their vehicles, we can park together right outside the entrance. This parking area has in and out privileges during the day. (Inside parking does not.) We need to submit our list by March 15, 2014. Let Ed know if you want to add your car to the MORE list.

Activities/Upcoming Events: Charlyn reported the Holiday Party will be held on Sun., Dec. 15, at the Hyeholde ,Moon Twp. To date, 90 members have signed up. There is room for 10 more people and the deadline is Sat., Dec. 7. The names of members who are attending are listed on our website. Check if your name is on it. Valet parking will be picked up by the club. Old Business: The GPMC generic business cards are available. There is still a supply of PVGP posters available for members. Pony Points: Last month Cheryl B. suggested increasing the Pony Points value. Ken mentioned that he, Ed and Jason dis-cussed the financial possibility of increasing the Pony Points value. Two ideas were considered – #1. Put a certain amount of funds into a special (reserve/rainy day) fund for use in cases of emergency or when significant purchases are needed; #2. Increase value returned to members or increase charitable giving. This would not be decided tonight but will be brought up again in the spring. Election Results: The ballots were tallied by Mike D. The following were elected: Mark Mu., President; Danielle L., VP.; Gerri C., Secy.; Jason U., Treas.; Ed S., MCA; John H., Merchandise; and Andrew T., Newsletter. Elected Board Members – Board #1, Ray R.; Board #2, Ken Ba.; and Board Alternate, Mark Be. New Business: Mark Be. suggested several ideas for funding as some other organizations have done, e.g., a multi-year dues plan and free student memberships that are not eligible to vote. Al S. discussed the World of Wheels event to be held January 24-26 and thought the club may be interested in participating. Cost is $50/car and registration is open till the end of Dec. Other: Bill M. won the 50/50. Next meeting: Wed., Jan. 8, 2014 , at King’s, Harmarville.

Adjournment: It was moved by Al S. and 2nd by Mark Be. to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried. Gerri C., Secretary

In Memory of Dan Carter The Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club has lost a family member. Dr. Dan Carter passed away on November 25th. He and his wife, Mary Kay, joined the GPMC in the fall of 2011 and were regular attendees at Club functions. Dan was quiet and unassuming, very approachable and easy to talk to, and always had a smile for others. Whether helping at Starlite on Mustang Nite or Can-Am, or working to line off the parking lot at our All Ford-Powered Show, Dan was there to pitch in. When the call went out this past August for volunteers to help at GPMC's Service Night at the Starlite Car Cruise, Dan didn’t hesitate. He stood and greeted people as they arrived and made them feel welcome even though he was in pain. His help was invalu-able. Dan was so proud of his 2012 Laguna Seca Boss Coupe – it’s always

been a head turner. He enjoyed showing it at events, and he received a first place trophy for it at our 2013 GPMC All Ford-Powered Show.

We will all miss Dan. He became a valued member in such a short time. We wish we had been given more time to get to know him better.

The entire GPMC family joins Jennie and me in offering our deepest condolences to Mary Kay, their

two sons, and all the rest of Dan's family and friends.

“Ford Recognizes the Mustang 50th Birthday Cele-bration as THE 50 Years Celebration of Ford and

Becomes a Partner!”

By TooSlowGT

Published on October 21, 2013 11:16 PM (MCA website)

The Mustang’s 50th year is very special to Ford as a whole for two reasons. First, the Mustang is

50 years old and second is that the Mustang has been in continuous production for all of those 50

years!

In recognition of these milestones, Ford has appointed Jim Owens as the 50th Mustang Celebration

Marketing Manager. Jim is an old friend of the MCA, as we’ve known him in many other Ford

and Shelby official capacities over the years.

Since then, Jim and his 50th Mustang staff have been working with the MCA to bring the Mustang

50th Birthday Celebration to an even higher level for the enjoyment of all Mustang enthusiasts,

worldwide!

This will be the first time that the Mustang Club of America and Ford Motor Company have truly

worked together on the planning and execution of a Mustang Anniversary Celebration. That’s not

to say that Ford hasn’t supported the MCA and the Mustang Anniversary Shows in the past. Ford

has always supported the MCA in all of our activities, especially our Mustang Anniversary Cele-

brations.

This Mustang Celebration will be different. Instead of just being at the event and a sponsor of the

event, Ford Motor Company will actually become a partner with the MCA in the planning and or-

ganization of the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration. With this new partnership, the MCA will

benefit from Ford support in many different areas including facility help and layout support, set up

and parking support, PR and Marketing Support and Simulcast/Broadcast to those who can’t at-

tend the Celebrations.

Jim will also be working to secure Ford Stars, including the Ford family and senior Ford execu-

tives, performers from the recording industry including American Idol stars, and many racing stars

of today, tomorrow and the past. Add to that, the social media buzz that Ford will generate and the

advertising in many different venues that the MCA could never afford or would not have access

to. Also, Team Mustang will be there for additional support for the MCA.

To make a long story short, Ford Motor Company is recognizing these events as the 50 years cele-

bration for Ford. The car marketing team this year has dedicated a specific marketing budget that

will activate the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration with the specific goal of working with the

MCA to make it a huge success!

MCA Corral Information about the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebration in Charlotte, NC The 50th anniversary celebration of the Mustang will occur on April 17, 2014. Over a thousand Mus-tangs are expected at this event, which will receive support from Ford Motor Company, the Mustang Club of America, and many other sponsors. This National Show is different from all others, because you can register your Mustang whether or not you belong to the Mustang Club of America. Registration information is on the MCA website at: www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com Basic registration is $100 for the entire event. This includes one Mustang, one person, one event pass, a goodie bag, and parking. The fee for a second person is an additional $50. The optional ban-quet will cost $75 per person. The MORE Program is something new for this show. If we get 20 people from our club to register, we can park together right outside the entrance. This parking area has “in and out privileges” during the day. If you park inside, you will not be able to move your car until after 5pm each day. There are a lot of things to do in the Charlotte area, and you will appreciate the freedom to move around. Our list for the MORE Program needs to be submitted by March 15, 2014. Send your name to Ed if you are going and want to park in the MORE area with other GPMC members. A 50th Birthday Registry Commemorative Book (full color – hard bound) will be produced by the MCA. If you are going to display your Mustang in Charlotte or Las Vegas, you can submit a photo of your car for $20 to be included in this publication. (Only one photo published per car.) The photo must be submitted before November 30, 2013. Further information can be found at: http://www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com/m50registrybook.html If you are unable to attend the 50th, you can still purchase a goodie bag without registering for the show. Price is $50 each plus $15 shipping to your home address. Information about ordering the goodie bag separately is on Mustang 50th Celebration registration page. Finally, if you want some high speed excitement, open track days are available at the Charlotte Mo-tor Speedway 2.25 mile road course on Thursday April 17, Friday April 18, and Saturday April 19th. The fee for each day is $250 and includes approximately six sessions on the track (20 minutes each.) Speed limits range from 85 mph to 135 mph MAX, depending on your previous track experience. http://www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com/charlotte/opentrack.html We already have over 15 GPMC Mustangs registered for this event. Please consider joining us for this “once in a lifetime experience”.
