BMS Soft Token Setup Instructions Introduction The NHIS VPN service allows you to connect your corporate Laptop (or corporate PC for some users during Covid-19) to the NHIS network so that all the clinical & business applications, services and shared files you use are accessible just the same as if you were in the office. In order to access the VPN, you are required to have an additional security measure (BMS Soft Token) to confirm your identity beyond just your Windows username and password as you will be accessing via the Internet. The BMS Secure-IT Portal enables you to self-provision your Remote Access account using a Smartphone, or an application installed on your laptop or PC. This user guide describes how to use the Secure-IT Portal. Setup Instructions

Introduction The NHIS VPN service allows you to connect your corporate Laptop (or corporate PC for some users during Covid-19) to the NHIS network so that all the clinical & business applications, services and shared files you use are accessible just the same as if you were in the office.

In order to access the VPN, you are required to have an additional security measure (BMS Soft Token) to confirm your identity beyond just your Windows username and password as you will be accessing via the Internet. The BMS Secure-IT Portal enables you to self-provision your Remote Access account using a Smartphone, or an application installed on your laptop or PC. Setting up your VPN Soft Token

This only needs to be done once in order to enable you to then logon from home

1. Install your VPN Soft Token

You have two options for obtaining your soft token. Either, you can use your corporate or personal smartphone, alternatively if you do not have a smartphone a Corporate PC/Laptop option is also available.

a) For Smartphone tokens; navigate to your devices App Store

Search for ‘BMS Token’ and click Install

b) For Corporate PC/Laptop tokens please install via the Software Center (NB: the device must be on the corporate network to see this).

You must do this whilst connected to the NHIS network before you able then able to use VPN from home.

From the Windows Icon in the bottom left corner, please select Microsoft System Centre>Software Centre. Search for BMS and click install.

Only proceed to the next step once you have download your preferred BMS Token App which when selected displays as below.

Once downloaded and installed on your smartphone or corporate pc/laptop you are ready to progress to the next step.

2. Create and Configure your VPN Soft Token

To access the Secure-IT User Portal navigate to the following website:

https://remote.notts-his.nhs.uk/portal/Setup.aspxThe following login screen will be displayed as shown below:

To log in; enter your Windows username and password and select the relevant domain from the drop-down list and click on the Logon button.

You will then be presented with the welcome screen as shown below:

Click on the Setup Assistant button to begin.

There are four token options available as below (only use BMS Soft Token):

Please select BMS Soft Token radio button and click ‘Next’

The following screen will appear:

You will now be presented with a screen displaying your token ID QR Code & (long number) along with a QR Passcode to activate your token on your device as seen below.

You will now need your BMS Token application that you installed on your smartphone or corporate PC/laptop open ready to setup.

Open the BMS Token App on the phone, You need to pick a pin number that you can remember. You will need to use this number every time you want to use your corporate PC/laptop to connect from home. Enter your choice of PIN and then PIN confirmation.

Remember - You will be asked to enter this PIN each time you want a VPN Token code to access the network, so you need to remember it.

If you are using the smartphone application Select the Scan Now option from the BMS Token App and scan the QR code presented on the portal.

Enter the QR passcode and click ‘Next’.

Alternatively, if you selected the Manual option, input the long code displayed and the QR passcode when requested and click ‘Next’. If you are using the PC/Laptop Token, it is possible to copy and paste the codes to save typing manually.

The first One Time Code displayed on the BMS Token App should be the same as the one displayed on the portal.

If so, the BMS Soft Token has now been successfully set up.

Click ‘Finish’ to return to the welcome screen or select the Logout button from the menu bar across the top of the portal.

Connecting using the Cisco AnyConnect VPN App These are the instructions for how you need to connect your laptop when working from home. You must be connected to your home broadband in order for this to work.

1. Launch the VPN software on your Laptop (this should be preinstalled). This can be found in the right hand bottom corner of your laptop.

2. Enter you VPN username (This is your Windows/Email username)

3. Simply tap on the BMS app on your smartphone or corporate PC/laptop

4. Type in the PIN you entered when you set up your VPN and press login

5. A six-digit number will appear on your phone, enter this on the VPN software

on your Laptop

6. Click Connect

This will now connect you to the corporate network and you will have access to the files and systems that you have access to when you are on site.
