NCT Star Community Awards Nisha C Thobhani, a skin care analyst from Leicester, lost her life prematurely at 31 years old whilst at work in Nottingham. She worked as a pharmaceutical analyst and was very committed to community affairs. She volunteered for many voluntary organisations and was very active in supporting people to learn British Sign Language. She signed for a performance at Shaadi Ke Rang (2006) at Leicester Haymarket Theatre and taught the entire cast to communicate in basic sign to enable them to interact with the Deaf audience. NCT Star Awards celebrates community achievement and encompasses a National dance competition in search of the best South Asian dancers. Individuals and groups will battle it out for a cash prize and the title NCT Star Dancer 2010. We want to hear from people and organisations everywhere about the hard work they have been doing to support other people. We want to hear from people who in the face of adversity still remain strong. We want to hear from people whose own stories themselves can touch the live of others. Our Community Awards are split into two –1) Under 16 year olds2) Over 16 year olds (up to any age)and categories include1) Dedication to Volunteering 2) Overcoming Obstacles in Life 3) Outstanding Achievement at School 4) Offering Help to Someone Else 5) Special Carer Award 6) Best Large Business/Company working for the Community (over 100 employees)7) Best Small Business/Company working for the Community (100 employees or less)
