Why Recycle? The average American generates 4.4 pounds of trash per day, adding to the grand total of about 251 million tons of trash the United States accumulates per year. American communities recycled and composted nearly 35% of municipal solid waste in 2012, diverting 87 million tons to recovery according to the U.S. EPA.

GLASS BOTTLES
•In 2012, 41% of beer and soft drink bottles were recovered for recycling, according to the U.S. EPA. Another 34% of wine and liquor bottles and 15% of food and other glass jars were recycled. In total, 34.1% of all glass containers were recycled, equivalent to taking 210,000 cars off the road each year. Source GPI.org

What does paper become?
Recovered paper is made into new products, such as boxes, paper bags, newsprint, printing &tablet paper, tissue & towel products, paperboard packaging and
specialty products such as ceiling tiles and insulation.
