books, our network of contacts is in permanent update. Our hope is to build close relations with authors and book publishers, standing out the name of Macau and our effort to introduce them to our citizens.In June we opened our mezzanine floor. Dedicated to kids, we built up a place where they can play and give their first steps in reading. Later we plan to squeeze in an

internet space and a small coffee corner where everyone can stay at ease enjoying a break with books and magazines. We humbly wish to provide both leisure and knowledge to all those who visit us.Bloom is growing just like a tree, slowly but gaining strength from its roots. We call it ‘Books and Beauty Fool Things for the Soul.’

We opened BLOOM on the 15th of February -  a new cultural space and bookshop in Macau Special Administration Region. Focused mainly on Arts, Design, Literature, Chinese, Portuguese and Macanese Cultures; Traveling, Healthy Living and Children’s books, and being devoted to English, Portuguese and opportunely, Chinese languages.

We have created a place for sharing knowledgement and resources from

local to global artists and everyone that loves to discover new worlds. Our aim is to provide tools to inspire local people, from kids to grown-ups, and encourage them to the greatness of creativity and the simplicity of life. The plan is established in different levels, from workshops and exhibitions to book gatherings and reading sessions, building a link to explore original ideas and self improvement.

Bloom * Creative Network is set to develop in other areas. First as an own brand publisher, promoting and publishing works from local writers and

artists and international authors. Second as an image supplier of photography and multimedia for local to worldwide publications.

Organized by Bloom:Different events in different languages to promote culture and the love for books

Book presentation “The Black Book of Falling” with the author Peter Suart

It was our first event, Bloom and MCCM Creations invited Peter Suart to present his first comic strip book. With the same characters, Tik and Tok, previously featured in Illustrated fiction. Peter talked about his career and showed his incredible and genius drawings. Growing up in Hong Kong, now in the UK, he speaks fluent cantonese. This was the begin of our friendly relation with MCCM from Hong Kong that still keeps shining at Bloom.

“Strolling in Macau” by Steven Bailey presented by Jorge Cavalheiro

Lecturer at Macau University, Jorge Cavalheiro talked about the city and the richness of its heritage that stays on the border of new developments and historical preservation. Published in the USA, this book is focused on the maze of narrow routes of old Macau.

Summer Activities for children

During the summer holidays we brought kids to occupy their free time crafting and having fun at Bloom with Michelle, a canadian teacher working in Macau.

Integration with local communities

BLOOM is not only about selling books. It’s also about events, interaction and exchange of experiences. Our customers come from all the corners of the planet and in common they found a new life in Macau. That’s one of the pleasures that we discovered day after day, that our market target is not made by a formula and manifests the melange that makes this special region so famous. A stage of mixing cultures.

In different occasions we took our books outside and presented them directly to the public organizing two successful book-fairs, namely on Costa Nunes Kindergarden in Macau and on Sheng Kung Hui Primary School in Taipa where we also offered some books to its library.

Last August we challenged Konstantin Bessmertny for a guided visit at his exhibition, Edictus Ridiculum, that was

held at Macau Art Museum. The requests were numerous and we took of for an exploration on art creation, questioning the realms of inventiveness as a field lesson. It was a relevant experience to everyone that was on board.

Building partnershipsTo promote our activities and events we

joined hands with other Macau entrepreneurs. From the beginning we have established an agreement with Hoje Macau newspaper where we have a daily column to recommend and promote a book in portuguese language. Since February we have released a text about more than 170 books and other written publications. From September on we are doing the same in english on Macau Closer Magazine and on the Portuguese supplement of Tai Chung Pou where we cooperate on the Sunday edition.

With MAM we promoted Robert Doisneau exhibition by supplying their shop with different titles about the famous french photographer. At the end we sponsored a prize giving on the closing ceremony.

With the Orient Portuguese Institute (IPOR) we were present at the Lusofonia Feast and there we promoted Portuguese Speaking Countries’ authors at a special price.

And that was not all, our stories react with the short incident of time. The day, the moment. Just a book is a complete series of events where imagination flows to an endless world. We follow the streamline. Lazarus is the new code name. With it we plan to implement another leaflet on a genuine part of Macau. There we will wait for the fruits to grow, within the city and this sky full of earth.
