JUNE 10, 2018 - Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Dear members of Blessed Sacrament Family, Greetings of peace, joy and hope to each one of you.

It is with a great sense of joy and satisfaction that we look back at the beautiful Feast of Corpus Christi, the Feast of our Parish that we celebrated last Sunday. It was a day of coming together as one family, around the Eucharistic Lord who unites us – a day of prayer, celebration, thanksgiving and fun. My sincere thanks to every one of you for making it a special and memorable day for all. On June 30, we conclude the Pastoral year 2017-2018. We will be concluding our first year together. In this context, I have a couple of things to share with you. 1. I take this opportunity to thank each one of you for enriching our Parish life with your unique and irreplaceable gifts. 2. A special word of thanks to those who have been members of various ministries. 3. Thank you for your financial contribution and support of the various initiatives of our Parish, especially the Bishop’s Annual Appeal. As of today, we have received 80 pledges totaling $26,223 with Our annual goal is $ 48,068 4. Prayerfully consider how you can continue / be a new member of the various ministries in our Parish. 5. I request all those who head the various ministries in our Parish to start planning for the new Pastoral Year which begins on 1 July. In this way, we can start preparing a Parish/Collaborative Calendar of events which will help us to organize better the life of the Collaborative and of each Parish. 6. I will be happy to receive your feedback on matters relating to our Parish/Collaborative life, both positive and areas that need greater attention, suggestions for improvements, changes that you might wish to see happening, etc., anything that will help to build up our Parish. You can send it to me either through email or by post. I will truly appreciate that and it will help our Parish and Finance Councils. On June 9, we have the first wedding of this year in our collaborative. We are truly blessed to have six couples getting married during the coming months. We congratulate them and promise them our prayers. I was happy to attend the Graduations feast of many of our students. We wish them all success as they move on in their life and pray for them and their families. School holidays will start for everyone after 8 June. I am sure our students will utilize their holiday time wisely and continue to grow up as amazing young people filled with God’s grace and Christian virtues. Speaking of schools, I would like to inform you that Mrs. Jan Hall, the Principal of our School in Otsego is retiring this year. We thank her for her dedicated and passionate service and we will truly miss her. Please keep her in your prayers as she is going through some health issues. June is the month of the Sacred Heart. We celebrated the feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus on 8 June. Let us once again consecrate ourselves and our families to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and experience His abundant blessings. In Christ, Fr. Simon Manjooran

Thank you to all our groups who participated in last weekend’s Corpus Christi Festival! We had 13 groups who not only shared great hospitality (and food) but also shared all the wonderful works they are offering to our parish. It was a wonderful celebration of who we are as the Body of Christ.

To live without faith, without a heritage to defend, without battling constantly for truth, is not to live but to “get along”. We must never just “get along”. Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati
