BTH conducts education and research at a high level in which engineering and
IT are integrated with other disciplines such as spatial planning, industrial
economics, design and health sciences to contribute to solving the challenges
facing society. Everything we do has three distinct perspectives: innovation,
sustainability and in real life, which means collaboration and exchange with both
business and industry as well as society.

Autonomic Security
• Researchers: Emiliano Casalicchio, S. Iannucci (Mississippi State University)
• We apply the autonomic computing principles to maintain a distributed system in a secure/safe state
• Detected an attack, we aim to find the optimal sequence of response actions that bring the system back in a secure/safe state
• Optimality means that a specific utility function is maximized.
• A cyber attack and the system response actions are modelled as a stochastic game
• We assume the system is capable to detect intrusions and we focus our research on the modeling of the system, the attacks and the response actions; and on the efficient resolution of the game
