SEOUL EATS

Korean BBQBY: Julian Austin

I arrived in Seoul last month to be-gin a year of my life within the con-!nes of one of the largest cities in the world. Located 7,500 miles away from Atlanta – South Korea is home to 45 million people on a peninsula no larger than the state of Indiana. "e capital city of Seoul accounts for nearly a third of all residents, as its sprawling metropolitan reach stretches north of the Hangang Riv-er. With limited Korean language skills, no previous experience living in such a massive locale and abso-lutely no fear of assimilating to the cuisine and cultural life in Southeast Asia – every experience I have is of another world. A#er a month I have seamlessly transplanted myself from Atlanta to Seoul without so much as

a hiccup in the change of lifestyle and continue to search for delicious bites of South Korean cuisine. You have no doubt heard about the neighboring country of North Korea and the ongoing tension be-tween the two, but what do you re-ally know about Seoul and South Korea? In the past year, Korean bar-becue has exploded as a hip, dining trend around the United States and its major cities. Living in Seoul, Ko-rean barbecue and the little-devil-in-a-green-bottle Soju (potent rice liquor) are everywhere. Within the district of Hongdae - there seems to be more Korean barbecue joints than calendar days in a year. Each tiny restaurant o$ers the same basic facet of this biz.A communal table

in the center o$ers an open char-coal grill that is used to barbecue samgyeopsal (pork belly), or beef, and accompanying vegetables. "e idea is for each patron to load up a lettuce wrap with the bbq, rice and chili sauce while trying not to spill half of it on your shirt. "ere are a number of side dishes like kimchi, the o%cial side dish of South Korea, and other ‘banchan’ to go along with the meal. "e average customers are typically businessmen, college stu-dents and couples sharing this expe-rience on a !rst date. Since Seoul is unfortunately not in the Midtown of Atlanta, here are some local Korean barbecue restaurants to curb that southern appetite:

A rich sultry voice combined with an uptempo techno funk Eva Fe is the type of artist that music indus-try heads and fans alike take no-tice. With her latest single “Oxygen” blowing up the Latin Pop charts Miss Fe has a lot to share with Bizzy B Magazine.

Bizzy B: I know that we came here to talk about your single but you look so amazing who are you wearing to-day?

Eva: Annett Carribean...she designs couture clothing and I love getting all dolled up so I am always honored to where anything she designs.

Bizzy B: You’ve got a lot of momen-tum from your !rst single “Oxygen” I know you must be very excited how are you adjusting to the success?

Eva: Yes I am very excited I’ve worked really hard but, honestly you’ve got to have faith and know that everything happens at a certain time, and I know that with my faith I am where a I am because of GOD.

Bizzy B: So tell us a little bit about the single and how it came about?

Eva: Well I actually co-wrote the song with this writer named Megan Cantoni. We basically spoke over the phone and she told me to write down what I was feeling at the time and send it over to her. So I did and she took those feelings and helped me turn them into what we know today as “Oxygen”. "e song is in es-sence about needing a guy like oxy-gen and at the time that was how I felt about my ex.

Bizzy B: So where can we hear your new jam?

Eva: It’s currently playing on XM ra-dio channel 51 and is in heavy rota-

-tion on La Mega and spanish radio in the Atlanta area. "ere is also an amazing video that we did for the song it’s currently playing on MTV Latin and in Gold’s gym all over the country. So make sure that you check me out.

Bizzy B: Is there anything that you would like to say to the readers that they may not know about you?

Eva: Yes of course, I am the most down to earth person you could ever meet and I love to spread positive energy.

I am not in this music game for the fame or fortune but, it makes it eas-ier to spread my positive message. I consider myself to be a humani-tarian I like getting my hands dirty while helping out in the community. Because I came from a strong chris-tian background GOD will always come !rst and it is up to me to do my part to spread his message through love support and actions.

Making Everything Legendary

Always Necessary

-Melan Bomb

!e words that trickle out of the statuesque female rapper. Melan is known for the realness of her music whether it is about love and relation-ships all the way down to the streets. Melan sits with Bizzy B Mag and candidly speaks about her journey to becoming a rapper.

Bizzy B: How did you get started in the rap game?

Melan Bomb: In the 5th grade I wrote a 10 line poem that was for a contest at my school. My poem won "rst place and was displayed around school so that’s kind of how I got my "rst start with writing. But, what re-ally lead me to rapping was thatI had gotten into some trouble with the law back in 2008 that landed me in prison. At that point I was at a low. I got into this huge "ght on the yard and was sent to lockdown which is basically 23 hours in a cell all by my-self. From there I just started writ-ing..... I must have written about 200 songs. I was writing about what I was going through like people I thought were my besties not visiting or even writing.

Bizzy B: what was your "rst experi-ence rapping?

Melan: A#er I got out of lock up I spit one of the verses I wrote. Every-one who heard it was like yeah that shits hot. But it’s crazy cause you never know what plans God has for you cause, when I got out and told my family about my rapping and spit a verse..... they were all behind me especially my brother. He was really the one that was like you really need to do something with this. But out-side of that I am really blessed be-cause I lost everything came home and got it all back.

Bizzy B: What producers are you currently working with?

Melan: Well the only producer who has truly inspired me is my homie Johnny Black and currently I am re-

cording down at Vision’s Studios in Atlanta with my guy Jarrell Lakes.

Bizzy B: How do you choose topics for your songs?

Melan: Honestly, it’s what I like, what others like, and what’s good music. I feel like I’ve been given this talent from God and this is the talent will help me go all the way.

If you know her from YouTube you know her as Phat!at a.k.a Dondria has been tearing up the music scene with her debut album Dondria vs. Phat!at hitting the R&B Billboard charts at 9. So what’s it like to walk a day in Dondria’s shoes? Bizzy B Magazine sits down with the R&B princess herself to ask her about love, life, and of course MUSIC.

Bizzy B: So how many YouTube vid-eos did you actually make?

Dondria: 221.... it was so easy be-cause you are not talking to anyone speci"c so I can just be myself and vibe.

Bizzy B: So how did JD get in touch with you for you to get signed to So So Def?

Dondria: Well it was a#er my vid-eo Promise hit more than 1 mil-lion views. JD actually hit me up on myspace. I ain’t gonna lie the "rst few times and I basically was ignor-ing him... because I just kept saying to myself this could not be true!!! $is is not Jermaine Dupri hitting me up on my myspace page. But, he was persistent and I "nally re-sponded to him. Originally he want-ed me to do a YouTube video with Jagged Edge. So they were going to %y to Dallas to shoot the video. But then.... JD decided to %y me and my

mom into Atlanta to go to Jagged Edge’s album release party. A#er the party JD was like are you ready? I was like READY???? Heck yeah and from there the recording of the al-bum began.

Bizzy B: How did you come up with your "rst single “You’re the One”?

Dondria: Brian Michael Cox was the one who came up with the con-cept. I really love working with him. He is from Houston Texas and I feel like we have similar ideas and share the same vision when it comes to my project.

Bizzy B: How did you feel the "rst time you heard the record on the ra-dio?

Dondria: I had been working so hard on recording the song that when it came on the radio I just started singing right along with it not even realizing that I am sing-ing to what’s on the radio. And then when I saw the video on BET and people started voting it to the top of the countdown it was just so crazy!!! All I ever really wanted to do was open up a restaurant and give vocal lessons. But I guess God had other plans for me.

Bizzy B: How has your life changed since you’ve “MADE IT”?

Dondria: Just really remembering that I have to be appreciative of my fans.... they are what made me. I have to always keep in mind, they are ex-cited when they see me because it’s their "rst time.... so even if I have to sign one autograph or a million each and every person standing in that line is there for me!!! And I really appreciate them.

Bizzy B: What are you currently working on?

Dondria: Right now I am working on a 90’s Duet Album. I just feel like people are craving the music from the 90’s and me being an 80’s baby that’s the music that I grew up on. So I just want to bring back that feeling with some of that good feeling mu-sic from back in the day!!!

Bizzy B: Who are some of the du-ets we can look forward to on the album?

Dondria: Tank, Jon B, Chris Brown, and hopefully R. Kelly just to name a few.

Bizzy B: So the 90’s was "lled with tons of love songs do you have a love in your life that inspires you?

Dondria: Yes, we’ve been together for about 5 years now although the timing is some what of an issue but, we frequently talk about marriage. It

gets really hard at times but, I guessthat’s just what comes with the job.

Bizzy B: What was your favorite fan moment?

Dondria: When I was in LA at a fashion show and there was this little girl who asked if she could have one of my bracelets.... it was so !attering to me, and of course I gave her the bracelets.

Bizzy B: What’s next for Dondria any other ventures you would like to share with us today?

Dondria: Right now just really the music, but if the opportunity came open I would love to act in a Tyler Perry show or "lm.

Bizzy B: Last thoughts for your fans?

Dondria: #anks for tuning in you can check out my latest mixtape on www. dondriadaily.com. And look out for my new album Duets in the 90’s coming out soon.

Play Up Your.... EYE SHAPE!

Hey ladies! !is month, let’s create some illusion with your eyeshape! I think every woman should spend a few hours in the mirror playing with eyeshadow so they know what colors they like on themselves and how to execute it. Every eye shape is di"er-ent but they all fall in a category of the following: Almond, Deep-set, Close-set, Asian, and Wide-set. You may fall under more than one cat-egory, like me for instance, I have close-set almond eyes. For deep-set eyes, it’s best to use a lighter color with a bit of shimmer to create the il-lusion that your eyes are coming for-ward, pulling them out of the depth they are in. You can create drama with using a darker color in your crease and #nishing it o" with a lin-er on the lash line. For the close set eyes, concentrate the lighter color on the inside of the eyelids and blend a darker color on the outer corners of the top and bottom lash line to “pull” your eyes apart. Almond eyes are the easiest so you are lucky if you have this shape! You can pull o" a nice cat eye or vintage winged liner with little or no shadow or accentuate the shape by de#ning the crease with a

darker color, line the bottom lashes with the same dark color, highlight the brow bone, and use a lighter col-or on the lid. For Asian eyes, line the top lash line with a dark shadow or liner and blend upwards (be careful not to go too high) and put a lighter shadow under the brow and blend down to meet with the darker shad-ow. You can #nish with a white pen-cil in your waterline to make your eyes appear wider and more awake. For the wide-set, line the top and bottom lash line with a pencil and smooth the line. It’s looks sultry to put black in the waterline of your eye to de#ne the shape and to make your eyes appear a bit smaller. Choose a medium shade of eyeshadow to sweep across the entire lid and you can pick a lighter color to put right in the middle of the lid to create a rounded appearance. Like I always say: “PLAY PLAY PLAY”!! Figure out what looks good with your cus-tomized eye shape and run with it!

A Man Speaks

love & relationships

!ings Men Hate about Women!ere’s no doubt that Men whole-heartily love women. However, I would like to reveal basic factors with females (in my opinion) that strongly irritate men.

1. Men hate it when their woman criticizes other females. Why do women o"en treat other women as rivals? I have found that women really talk about other women be-cause of envy or jealousy. A wom-an will gain no popularity with men if she continuously criticizes other women’s dresses, shoes and appearance. “Girl look at her hair!” “Is that Plum polish on her nails and green polish on her toes?” If a woman is looking good driving down the street in her BMW, she gets talked about. If a woman has a #at stomach and wants to wear a cut-o$ shirt, she gets talked about… You will never see a Man say such things as: “Now he knows he needs to do his toes if he’s go-ing to wear sandals.” “I can’t stand him! Look at his muscles!” “Is he wearing Levi’s and Sean John?” “!at’s tri#ing!!”

Ladies, Please, STOP IT!! 2. Women’s jealousy drives Men mad. Some women think that this jealousy nonsense reinforces the

relationship, not realizing that the jealousy lifestyle can fracture even the strongest relationship. Jeal-ousy appears when someone in a couple does not trust his partner. Remember that trust is the basis of your relationship. Hey I am not saying that you can’t ask where a man is going and what they are doing, even with whom, but ev-ery 15 minutes?% Guys just don’t like being questioned about these things. Can we simply go to the store without women putting out an APB (All Points Bulletin) on us?

3. Men also do not like to be treat-ed as an emotional support. We get irritated when women always demand caresses and hugs, when women ask to call them special. Men do not like di&dent wom-en; they say it is even worse than self-con'dent and independent women. Men want to have time for themselves too; you know, to watch sports and stu$ or even hang out with the boys. I think if women would just chill out and let their men chill then they wouldn’t be getting the arti'cial attention they sometimes get.

4. Men hate the way women jump

to conclusions with out knowing all the facts surrounding the given situation. Women see a situation and immediately jump to the most logical explanation with out asking any questions. !en when men try to explain, the woman’s%mind is al-ready made up with their own as-sumption and they think they are right. Example… A woman makes a sandwich and decides to go take a shower, leav-ing the sandwich on the counter. !e dog jumps up on the counter and grabs the sandwich, which you are unaware of. !e woman comes out from the shower and the sandwich is gone. “You ate my sandwich!” is bellowed towards you. You explain that you didn’t eat the sandwich and the dog must have taken it… “No he didn’t you ate it!” You point her attention to the dog sitting in the corner enjoy-ing the sandwich. “Well you must have given it to him then, there is no way the dog could have taken it o$ the counter.”

5. Men hate shopping, especially clothes shopping. Men DO NOT know what colors go with what

21 Bizzy B March 2012

A Man Speaks

love & relationships

!ings Men Hate about Women 2or what handbag goes with what shoes. We can care less about Cha-nel, Michael Kors, or Lancôme. Hell, if you were to mention Coach to us, the !rst thing we think about is sports. "e truth be known we actually don’t care. "e only thing on our minds is “when is this go-ing to stop?” so I can get home and relax. When men shop we know exactly what we want- Nike & Levi’s. Men generally believe that twenty-four hours in a day are not enough for women to enjoy shop-ping, to have an opportunity to touch and try on everything they !nd. Men !nd it the most terrible ordeal when women insist that men must accompany them dur-ing shopping.

6. One thing I learned about wom-en is that, whenever they are mad you have to be extra sensitive to-wards them to not hurt their feel-ings. But when a guy is mad he’s al-ways over reacting. What’s wrong with a guy getting mad if he sees you giggling with another man? If your man is mad about something try to understand and don’t say he’s over reacting.

7. Women have a sure leverage to demonstrate their superiority over

men. "is is sex, which is the most powerful weapon in the war be-tween males and females. Women deprive their men of sex in an at-tempt to punish them or make a point. But the measure may in some cases have consequences for women.

8. Men hate insecure and jealous ways. If you’re out and you see your man eyeing a woman across the street, don’t make a big deal about it. We are Men! All men young and old do this. Leave your comments to yourself. You can’t tell me that when you see a nice looking man walking down the street, you don’t keep your eye on him. Most men won’t say anything or even notice when you do it. Give your man a break.

9. If you don’t own a car why stress on having a guy with a car? I re-ally hate hearing girls stating, “oh if the guy doesn’t have a car I won’t talk to him”, well do you have one? If you don’t then keep it moving cause a guy wouldn’t mind you having your own. A lot of nice ro-mances start on the bus or train.
