Awards 2016
The bizSAFE Awards recognise bizSAFE members for their commitment and dedication in advocating and raising workplace safety and health practices and standards. The bizSAFE Awards will be presented at the annual bizSAFE Convention in February 2016 organised by the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Council and supported by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM).

*SME definition :
a. At least 30% local shareholding AND

The bizSAFE Enterprise/Partner must have fulfilled ALL of the following between 15 June 2014 and 14 June 2015 (qualifying period):
No pending conviction/prosecution in court
No Stop Work Order
No accidents causing death or permanent disablement, occupational disease and Dangerous Occurrence
Not on Business Under Surveillance (BUS) Programme

Recognises bizSAFE Small-and-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) ⃰ for being dedicated to the bizSAFE programme by: Progressing from bizSAFE Level 1 to Level 3 within 6 months during the qualifying period

+ Enterprises: Recognised as Direct or Indirect Contractors/ Vendors/ Suppliers of the bizSAFE Partner which include any person engaged by them under a contract of service:
(a) to supply any labour for gain or reward; (b) to do any work for gain or reward, in connection with any trade, business, profession or undertaking carried on by the principal; or (c) engaged by Direct Contractors/Vendors/Suppliers to do any work for gain or reward.

Qualitative Assessment
Documentary Evidence on:
• Recruitment Efforts
– How are new Enterprises being enrolled into bizSAFE?
• Nurturing Efforts
– How are existing bizSAFE Enterprises nurtured to advance their bizSAFE Levels?
• Participation Efforts
– Any visible WSH-related involvement in the industry?
• Bonus Programmes
– Going beyond, are there any other innovative programmes to improve workplace safety and health apart from those above?
• Risk Management Implementation
– Holistic RM: RM should also encompass health/ergonomic/environmental/cultural/etc hazards that are often neglected
– Pragmatic RM: RM must be effectively implemented and not just a paper exercise
– Upstream Risk Controls: Following the Hierarchy of Control: Elimination > Substitution > Engineering Controls > Admin Controls > PPE

• Applicants should organise their write-ups for the respective sections
• All images should be printed in colour. Do not provide grainy photocopied versions.
• Illustrations/Evidence should be labelled accordingly and accurately in the write-up for ease of reference.
