INTRODUCTIONBishop Stuart University is a not-for-profi t Chartered educati onal insti tuti on established by Ankole Diocese of the Province of the Anglican Church of Uganda to provide Christi an based higher Educati on, training and research for the expansion of God’s kingdom, human Knowledge and bett erment of society.

The University has its main campus at Kakoba, Mbarara Municipality, Mbarara District in Uganda and another Campus at Ruharo, near St. James Cathedral, the headquarters of Ankole Diocese.

STUDENTS’ LIFE Accommodati on: The University off ers Accommodati ons to only Nursing Science Students. The rest of students sleep in privately owned hostels. However, students are encouraged to stay in Hostels that are accredited by the University.

Student Leadership: Bishop Stuart University conti nues to boast of a vibrant Guild government which has been conti nuously involved in local, nati onal and regional events and associati ons. These events are a necessity for networking and they provide much needed exposure to our students.

Guild Chambers: It is a double storied structure. It comprises of Guild Offi ces, Conference Hall, Boardroom, Canteen and Presidenti al Suite.

Guild Forest: The Guild planted a eucalyptus forest along the River Rwizi that is ready for harvesti ng.

Games and Sports: The University has embarked on constructi on of an internati onal Sports complex which will be hosti ng many acti viti es that include: football (women/men), netball (men/women), Volleyball (Men/women), Wood ball (women/men), athleti cs, beach soccer, basketball, chess, swimming and scrabble. Bishop Stuart University has registered several achievements in tournaments.

Counselling Services: The University has a counselling unit which caters for students and staff .

Medical Services: The University has been blessed with a clinic which is manned by well trained nurses. For referrals, the pati ents are referred to Ruharo Mission Hospital with which the university has a partnership/health scheme.

Students Clubs: Many clubs and associati ons are progressively being formed at BSU, indicati ng stability in students’ welfare. The pivotal role that these clubs play is in the development of the students’ abiliti es and talents.

Technologies (ACAST) The university got an opportunity of sending its students of agribusiness department for internship training in Israel. FACULTY OF LAW In response to the need for the sound legal educati on in the world at large and Uganda in parti cular, BISHOP STUART UNIVERSITY introduced a bachelor of laws degree program to provide opportuniti es to train human resources in law so as to increase and improve access to justi ce.In August 2012 the fi rst applicati on was lodged with the Nati onal Council for Higher Educati on for the accreditati on of the law programs. The law programs are fully accredited by the Nati onal Council for Higher Educati on and recognized by Law council of Uganda.

Under the guidance of lecturers, the students of the faculty will be conducti ng clinics to assist people with various legal problems, such as accessing justi ce, issues if domesti c violence, matt ers of succession.
