Heartfelt Thank You To . . . …..Rev. Jon Nestor, Rev. Brett Webb-Mitchell, Rev. Susan Mills, and Rev. Rebecca Strader for filling the Pulpit during August. …..Ernie Diaz for sharpening all our knives each week. …..Everyone who helped with the August 8th Read & Feed dinner. It was a team effort that was so successful. …..All the cooks and servers who put on the Congregational dinner August 29th. Good food and fellowship made for a fun evening. …..Celebrate Recovery who helped set up the Fellowship Hall for the Red Cross Blood Drive and Charlie & Barbara Hare who put the room back together when the Blood Drive was finished. …..Sherri Seaman and Sue Adams for rearranging the pantry cupboards. It looks so much better! …..Jim & Stella Ross, Mary Feister, Cookie Baxter for providing fresh flowers for the Sanctuary during August. …..Patty Gewalt for making two silk flower arrangements that can be used when there are no fresh flowers. Peggy Harmon donated the silk flowers and Patty G. worked her magic and made two beautiful bouquets! …..Barry McPherson for finding “fresh faces” for pulpit supply.

Elder’s Message
Note of Appreciation: from Marcia Wilcox
This past spring I resigned from the positions I was filling at our church due to family health issues and my declining eyesight. I am so aware of the kind souls who have stepped up and assumed these positions. My sincere thanks to Joyce Read and Sylvia Selden for playing the organ and piano, providing musical leadership on Sunday mornings My deepest appreciation to Lyle Seaman for assuming the responsibilities of Worship and Music . She has also successfully found someone to fill the pulpit each Sunday. Last but certainly not least a grateful Thank You to Denise McPherson for assuming the daunting and frustrating job as Chair of the Pastoral Nominating Committee. I know she will do her best and is certainly the right person for the position. To all the above, accept my love and sincere gratitude. I also wish to thank all the congregation for your love, support and prayers over the past years . Blessings on all of you, the congregation of Waldport Community Church. Sincerely Marcia Wilcox

to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and to express that discipleship as a member of the Presbyterian Church.
If you are interested please sign-up on the clipboard in the Narthex.
We need you to sign-up by September 18th so the books can be ordered.
Light refreshments will be served.

SESSION HIGHLIGHTS Barbara Hare, Clerk of Session
HIGHLIGHTS OF STATED SESSION MEETING August 13, 2017
All Elders were present: Moderator Montee Kennedy presided.
Communion was served on August 6, 2017, to 25 people with Rev. John Nestor providing pulpit supply. Average Worship attendance in July was 25.
Membership roll reflects 31 members.
Key Calendar Dates: Red Cross Blood Drive will be August 18, 2017, from 11:30am to 4:30pm in the Fellowship Hall. The Congregational Meeting will be held October 29, 2017, following Worship.
Pastoral Search Committee chair, Denise McPherson, stated the committee had met and is revising the Mission Statement. They will meet again on September 2rd. As of this time there are no prospects wanting a part-time position at our Church.
Worship & Music chair, Lyle Seaman, will need help planning the Advent season. She has several possibilities of programs in mind but will need assistance from everyone.
Pulpit supply of pastors is going well. Each Sunday in September is filled and October is almost filled.

All Are Welcome—Come as You Are!
Communion
Communion will be observed September 3rd. In thankfulness for all that Christ has done for us, we remember to reach out with Christ’s love to those who are hit hard by this economic
downturn. Please remember to bring in your food donations and drop them off in the Wishing Well in the front entry of the church, or you may simply choose to make a monetary donation to Waldport Food Share by including it with your Sunday morning offering. Simply make a notation on the memo line for Waldport Food Share. Food Share is currently experiencing a shortage of food and having to turn folks away.
Our June donation to Waldport Food Share was 75 pounds of food. Please remember to bring in your cans and other non-perishable items! Opened items cannot be accepted by Food Share.
