BOB SINCLAIR - A VETERAN OF THE EXECUTIV EBob Sinclair joined Coburg when the club entered the V .A .F.A . In 1935 .Although he played, he was not a regular member of the team, and it has been

on the administrative side of amateur football that he has made his biggestcontribution .

Bob was first elected to the CoburgCommittee in 1942 and became ClubDelegate in 1948 . He was elected tothe Permit Committee in 1956 and be-came a member of the Executive Com-mittee in 1959, a position he has heldever since .

He was Secretary of Coburg for over20 years and has also held the positionof President and Chairman .

Bob has been associated with manyVictorian teams in an official capacity .

He was Manager of the team whic hplayed South Australia at Melbournein 1965, Manager of the team whichplayed at Hobart in 1969 and of theteam which played in the same cityin 1974.

He was Assistant Manager at Devon-port in 1962, Launceston in 1963, Ade-laide in 1966 and Launceston again in1972 .

He was also Assistant Manager ofthe Victorian party at the Perth Car-nival in 1970, and a member of theOfficial Party of the Australian Amateursvisit to Brisbane in 1971 .

Bob continues his story in his ownwords - "As I am retiring this year,I may not be standing for any officialposition within the V .A .F.A. next year,and I would like, with the consent ofthe Editor, to thank my club for elect-ing me Club Delegate, making it pos-sible for me to become a member ofthe V .A.F.A . and the opportunity of be-coming an official of the Association-which has enabled me to meet somany friends within the Association andalso players and friends from Inter-state .

What is an amateur footballer?He is a person who plays the sport ,

for the sport alone, and no financialgain. In the history of this club, wehave had players who made seniorleague lists and then decided to stickto the amateur association, why?There are other players who have been

in the senior side of this club formany, many years, why?

Because they have some affiliation withthis club, which they cherish.Over the last two years we have

lost a lot of committee men and es-pecially players . There is nothing tohold them to this club, as they dotheir jobs for the love of the sport .

It is hoped throughout this year thatold and new members will realize thegreat advantage of being associated witha traditional establishment, such asBrunswick Amateur Football Club . It ismore a personal thing that you can beproud of, at the end of a successfulyear.

I could rave on about the great moraladvantages for oneself and society, butI won't, all I'll say is that in this dayand age, being an amateur footballeror a member of a truly amateur club issomething better than the averagenrixed up organisation - CHARLESDUNDON .

A "KING-SIZE" BURGER IS ALAN HANDLE YA real giant of Amateur football ranks in Alan Handley, who joined Coburg

three years ago .He is 6161-11 tall and weighs 17-1, and although 31 years old, he is still in the

champion class .Alan previously played 140 games in water-skiing and basketball - what anhis eight years with Fawkner Y .C .W. asset his height must be in the latter

guire today plays his 200th game againsttraditional rivals St. Bernard's againstwhom he has played many fine games .Damien joined North in 1966 and hasplayed in four grand finals, 1966, 1967,1971 and 1975 . Last year was undoubtedlyhis finest season when he won theClub's trophy for most determined player .He is now 29, weighs 13 1 stone is6'4" tall and has played mostly in theruck. He is also most interested in theadministration of the Association andis presently the Club's member on theV .A .F .A . MILESTONE TO OLD TRINITY PLAYEROld Trinity congratulates a youthfu l

Dick Dart on achieving a club first inplaying his 200th game against Uni Bluesrecently . Since joining the club in 1965,Dick has been a stalwart, and has quitean impressive record with the club . In-cluded in the 200 games are 11 Finalsappearances, with 3 Grand Finals (70,71, 74), and in 1967 he won the club'sBest and Fairest. In his earlier days,Dick played in the centre, but with thepassage of years he has become notedfor his strong play on the backline, withlong clearing runs as a springboard forattack. He has had a relatively injury-free career, however, (a record thatmany footballers would be glad to emu-late) and it is hoped that those legswhich have carried him so well can lastmany more seasons yet . A player ofDick's experience is an asset to anyclub, and this year he has lent his sup-port to the Reserves team, where it ishoped that some of his football "know-how" will rub off on the younger players .

Barryplayed 87 games with the Junior Sidesfrom 1970 to 1975 and was selected in theDoncaster and District Junior FootballLeague Inter-League team last year atthe age of 17 .
