Great birds of a feather think alike (It’s time to do

something uncomfortable)



Great minds think alike. Birds of a feather flock together.



Both these statements describe the phenomenon of people sticking together with other people (consensus) who are like them (likeability).



These two statements also reveal an opportunity for you to grow your influence further than you might ever have imagined.



The opportunity lies in doing the exact OPPOSITE of the typical behavior these two sayings describe. Here’s why.



It’s exhilarating to be working with someone who is on the same page and who just ‘gets you’.



On the other hand, it can be just as exhilarating to work with someone who doesn’t think like you, who challenges you,

and who might downright disagree with you.



If birds of a feather always flock together, then go fly with another flock for a while.



• Get your feathers ruffled by different birds.

• Listen to other points of view.

• Do it on purpose.



You’ll become open-minded to alternative ways of thinking, and you may even change your mind and develop a new belief based on the new information.



This is how progress happens.



So, if you’re not experiencing enough progress in your life, then take your open but critical mind and go hang out with some people who think and act differently to you – even if just for a while.
