November 2019 Page 1 Volume 33-11 A Monthly Newsletter Published by the RoadRunner Prospectors Club November 2019 BIRD TAILINGS Presidents Corner Well, the year is just about over. The holiday season is almost upon us. We have a lot of business and events taking place in the next couple of months. We are sponsoring another swap meet at the club office, the coin hunt, and in December dont forget the Christmas Luncheon. Check the events calendar on the last page of the Bird Tailings for specific dates and times. We also have year-end business to be taken care of. The sealed bid auction will end at the coin hunt and the winning bids for the dry washer and generator will be announced at that time also. Bids are still being ac- cepted and you can bid on them up until 11 AM on the day of the coin hunt. The raffle for the new Royal dry washer will be drawn at the Christmas Party. You can still purchase tickets at the meetings and by mail. See all the details in the Bird Tailings. Most important is the elections. The ballets will be counted at the November general meeting. Please vote. In the past, we have not had a very good turnout. I hope eve- ryone takes this opportunity to exercise their rights and have a say in who is taking care of YOUR club. Some ongoing business that the Board of Directors has to deal with is claims maintenance. We are always plagued by people, both members and non-members not reclaiming their prospecting areas. Whenever this is reported to the Board we have to either try to find the person(s) who did- nt reclaim the area or send a crew out to take care of it. This is a picture of just one of those areas. This was out on the Cass claims. This and a couple of other holes in the area took a five-man crew of volunteers to reclaim it. Vol- unteers use their own transportation and gas to reach the claims, so the club does reward their time and expenses with a gold nugget. The leader of the crew also receives mileage reimbursement. So, the cost of the reclamations in this area cost the club about $300.00. This doesnt sound like much but multiply that by only five times and the costs start adding up. These are funds the club could use to obtain more claims and have more and better outings. Also, if you notice in the picture, the tree has been undercut and the tree roots are exposed. This is considered to be against the rules of the club, the BLM, and the National Forest. If a member is caught doing this, I will recommend that they be removed from the club by the Board. If a non-member is caught, the Board will do its best to have them prosecuted for min- eral trespassing and we will contact the governing authority of the area and report it to them. I hope to see you out on our claims finding a lot of gold. I hope your pickers are big and your nuggets are large! Les Glover RRPC President

Annual Claims Usage Survey

Enclosed with this newsletter is the annual Claims Usage Survey which will help the club determine which claims are being utilized. The club will use the information to make in-formed decisions concerning our claims. Please take the time to complete the survey noting which claims you prospected on at any time during the past year. This includes all types of prospecting; metal detecting, dry washing, dredging, etc. It will greatly help the club.

The survey will be in the November and December newsletters, and can be filled out and returned electronically, printed out and mailed to the office, or brought to the November meet-ings. Blank survey forms will be available at the meetings. Mailed-in forms must be received at the club office by December 31st. Thank you.

Meet the Candidates for the 2019

RRPC Election!

I’ve been affiliated with the electric utility in-dustry for 40 years. I am a Senior project manager with the Western Area Power Administration, a Feder-al Agency that delivers power across 14 states. I deal with all Federal and State agencies that affect our club and mining industry so if the need arises to help the club with access issues or other matters, I have many contacts who can assist. Raised in Montana, I under-stand the issues we face as a club and as a board mem-ber I would work hard in keeping the RRPC as the best in the Southwest. Les Love

I enjoy helping others by joining in as a team player and have taken seven members out prospect-ing on numerous occasions. Over the last several years I have gained great experience in prospecting by listening, experiencing, watching, and recom-mending solutions to others in various methods of prospecting. I’m a quick learner and have no prob-lem helping during outings and special events. I have educated RRPC members on techniques to help them succeed in gold recovery which hopefully gets passed on to other members! I helped remark claims, clean up after digs and leave it as we found it, NO HOLES…Ray Bostwick

My name is Terry Blood. Why do I want to run for the board? I have been a member of the Roadrunners for four years and I really enjoy gold prospecting. I think there are a lot of great people involved in this club and they work hard to make the club and the outings work out as well as they do. I get along well with everyone and would like to bring my experience and ideas to the board to help the RRPC become the best it can be!

Terry Blood

I have been active on the Board or as a member for six years. I have been at most Wednesday morning office hours. I have also attended Board meetings as a member. I have assisted in all areas as needed in RRPC. I believe deeply that confiden-tiality, truthfulness, honesty, and protecting all RRPC members in every way are things that I would never waver from. I wish to thank each and every one of you who decide to vote for me. I also wish each and every one of you an enjoyable up-coming holiday season. Terry Wilson

My name is Lynn McCall and I joined the Roadrunners Prospectors Club a little over two years ago. I am very passionate about this organiza-tion, and its goals and objectives. The people are very friendly and dedicated to the success of the club. I a currently a realtor affiliated with a local real estate company serving the Phoenix area. I un-derstand the complex right of way issues as well as ingress and egress for access concerns. As a board member for the Roadrunners Prospecting Club I would use my lands and reality knowledge and ex-perience to assist where I can. Lynn McCall

I belonged to a gold club in Oregon for several years. I was the treasurer for 4 years and resigned when we moved to Arizona. I was also a board member, before I be-came treasurer. I enjoyed being on the inside track and supporting and helping to shape the club for the better. We joined RRPC in 2017 where we met and made a great bunch of friends. I look forward to working with everyone and sup-porting this club in any way that I can! Pam Hasey

This is one of the easiest ways to win a gold nugget of all the raffle drawings that the club supports. Let’s start with the basic rules.Be sure to notify Pete at the

office at [email protected] whether you are collecting trash, destroying fire rings, or filling in holes. * Let’s start with trash collection: Fill up a yard bag or the equivalent with trash which can mean anything from cans and bottles to large pieces of metal or furniture. Take a picture of your trash with you or another family member in it and send it to Pete with your name, member number and claim you found it on. This will put you in the drawing. *Next, let’s look at the endless holes that are on most claims. Take a picture of the hole before you do anything to reclaim it. Fill in the hole(s) and take another picture preferably with you in the picture. Send it to Pete with your name, member number and claim. *Finally, there are the fire rings. Take a picture of the fire ring before you do anything to reclaim the area. Then throw the fire ring rocks at least three feet away so it will not look like there has ever been a fire ring in that location before. Take an after picture with you in it including your name, name of claim, mem-ber number and send that to Pete at the above email. November Steward of the Land Terry Wilson

Monies must be received at the office prior to the date of the raffle drawings. Any raffle monies received at the office after the raffle drawing will be entered into the next raffle draw-ing.

The winner will be responsible for shipping

on the dry washer prize; arrangements can be made by calling the office, 602-274-2521, on Wednes-
