Bingo Showdown for Teams and Centers The first time you have your students play Bingo Showdown in cooperative learning teams or centers, take time to explain the small group directions. The directions are very similar, but the role of Leader rotates each round. When you hand out the game materials, designate a student on each team to be the first Leader. While students are working, especially when they are still learning how to play the game, move about the room providing help to students who need assistance. Explain how to check the answer in Step 4, a process that depends on the type of answer key. For example, if the answers are on the backs of the cards, they will need to stack the cards face up during the game and only turn them over when it’s time to check the answer. If the cards have QR codes, be sure your students know how to scan them. One of the most important features of the game is how group discussion is regulated to optimize learning. Students are not allowed to talk while working in Step 3; however, after all answers are checked in Step 4, students are encouraged to discuss their responses. Before starting the next round, it’s important for everyone in the group to understand how to solve the problem or answer the question. If they rush through the game without taking time to discuss the answers, it becomes a competition more than a learning activity. ©2016 Laura Candler's Teaching Resources ~ www.lauracandler.com ~ www.lauracandlerontpt.com Preview fold th ch round of th of t wn for Teams and Cen for Teams and Cen you have your students pla ve your students pla ive learning teams or cente ning teams or cente up directions.
