What are the export trends of Pakistan
Pakistan is mainly an agriculture based country and the main
exports of Pakistan arebased on agricultural products like cotton,
wheat rice etc, and not the high-tech
products like machinery, computers and other capital
products.
Agricultural products are not that much expensive as capital and
high-tech products.
Therefore Pakistan has to export in huge quantities to almost
all continents of the world
to gain foreign exchange and to balance its trade deficit. In
contrast, the countries that
are exporting capital products, gain more from foreign trade by
exporting in low volumes
Pakistan Exports were at its peak in the years, 1990 to 2005
because of the
Government tax structure and good economic policies, but now due
a huge energy
crisis and highly un-stable government structure, the country is
suffering huge deficit in
Balance of Payments because of the reduced amount of Exports and
increased
amounts of imports. Pakistan now is not even able to produce
enough to fulfill its own
consumption due to energy crisis especially in the agricultural
sector.
