In April, we had a non-

    school uniform day to

    raise money for the

    Brook Hill Foundation.

    Brook used to come to

    our school and he unfor-

    tunately had an accident

    whilst skiing in France.

We all had to dress up inred because thats his

    favourite colour and we

    all brought money in for

    a collection to raise

    money; we also sold

    bands and broaches.

    The bands said on them

    Brook Hill Foundation:

live life to the full. The

money will help otherchildren who have had

    serious head injuries.

    Were all glad that Brook

    has made such a mas-

    sive recovery!

    CLASS 1 TO THE RESCUE!

In Class 4, Mr Rich came upwith a great idea that weshould do a country topic!

So he put country names in ahat and one by one, a childcame up and got one. For ex-ample, Zoe got Italy and Sashagot Greece. Then what we had to do is findout about the map, the flag,

tourism, food and drink andmore. Mr Rich said he was notgiving us ideas so we got onwith it. We worked non-stopand we loved it!

It was a great idea! Thank you

    Mr Richs brain!

Class 1 had fun when they

    were all transformed into su-

    perheroes for the day! We

    caught up with Mrs Latham

    to find out more.

What did the children do onSuperheroes Day?

    Bickerton Bear got kidnapped

and they had to rescue him.

They had to do some challeng-

es, like getting a key out from

    a block of ice.

    What did the children think

    of the day?

    They had a brilliant time!

    What did the

    children

    wear?

    Everyone

    dressed up.

    Some people

    were Spider-man or Spi-

    dergirl and we

    also had some

    Batmen, Bat

    girls and Su-

    per nurses!

Class 1 pupil Maisy Tudor said

I thought it was great fun andI loved the challenges, espe-

    cially trying to find Bickerton

    bear.

So now we know where to go if

we are in trouble!! CLASS 1!

    A TOP TOPIC!

On Monday 15thJuly, Class 5 got

    busy with mannequins!

    They learnt about choking, bleeding,

Asthma, CPR and the DRS ABC (in

case you are wondering DRS ABC

stands for: D for danger, R for re-

sponse, S for shout (for help), Afor

airway, B for breathing, C for circu-

lation!) They had to do a short 2 mi-

nute play and the topics were: asth-

ma, burns, choking and electrocu-tion. They also got to watch some

clips about keeping safe. It was very

interesting. Thank you to the First

    BRILLIANT BABIES

The Year 5 and 6 children have had avisit from the Cheshire Fire Service.

They told us how fires can start and

how to prevent them happening. Therewere loads of videos and they said we

should have a bedtime routine to clear

up the floor so if there is a fire you wont

trip over the things on the floor when

you are getting out! They also showed

us how to get out of the house safely if

there is a fire and what to do. We went

in the smoke tent and they were show-

ing us what to do and how to get down

low. This smoke was not toxic, but in a

real fire the smoke can kill you. It was

really fun and we learnt loads about

    staying safe.

We have had a few new babies at

    Bickerton recently!

Congratulation to Casper & Seb who

have a new little sister called Pur-

die . Millie and Alfies little brother

is called George and arrived earlier

this year. And Libbys new baby sis-

ter is called Amelia! Libby said It is

    great to have a sister!

Year 4 and 5 went to Castleton for the weekend and we

    had lots of fun.

On the first day, we got there at about 12pm and when we

got out of the bus, it was pouring down with rain so wegrabbed our bags and ran indoors! We did lots of fun activi-

ties like orienteering when we went round a field in groups.

We had to find a letter but we had a map that showed us the

directions. All the teachers had a walkie talkie and Mrs Par-

sons walkie talkie was playing up so the other groups could

hear all the answers! We also fed goats, played games and

    made tents.

There were lots of nice staff to look after us. There was

Katie, Tom, Ben and Gareth. Katie cooked all the dinners

and we called her Super chef. On the last day, Katie

brought her pet in and it was a Harris hawk, the big bird!

She told us it once flew away and she had to climb a tree

    and get it!

We all had fun! Thank you Mr Sweetman, Mrs Parsons and

    Mrs Weaver for taking us!

    SINGING FOR FERGUS

On Thursday 13t June, some people out of Class 4 and 5

went to Malpas church to sing in a special concert called

    Songs for Fergus.

Loads of other schools came and did it too. Our school sang

Africa, Something spooky, and The Last Minute Calypso. Mr

Rich came and played his drums too.

It was 2 and a half hours and we all went to bed late, but it

was a great night. At the end, some people from our school

held the pots and people gave in money for Hope House be-

cause we were singing in memory of our friend Fergus. Mrs

Hunter (Ferguss mum) told us It was a great concert! Malpashas now got its own Young Voices!

    On Thursday13th

    June

    Class 5 took a step

back in time to the Tu-

    visited Little Moreton

    Hall.

    Class 5 arrived there and

    what a sight we saw!

The Tudor patternglowed on the building.

We split into groups andlooked round the house

    and the chapel. The col-

    ours in Tudor times were

    very dull and they were

    mostly black and white.

We had the chance to try

    on Tudor clothes and try

to do some Tudor sew-ing patterns. After lunch,

    we went into the garden

    and sketched the build-

    ing. We also got the

    chance to buy Tudor

    stuff from the shop.

    It was an exhausting but

    exciting day as Class 5

    headed back to school on

    the Cholmondeley bus.

Ian played a few tasters and we

had to say what the song is and

what it is on or in. At the end, they

even played gangnam style and eve-

    GREAT GUITARS
