WHEN PEOPLE DO BEAUTIFUL THINGS, IT IS ONLY PROPER TO EXPRESS GRATITUDE and so, ……….a million Thank yous to Maria Mullis, Veronica Verzo, Leo Lacsamana, & Avery In-ternational for their donation of 200 bottled water; to Amy Martinez and the Mary Queen of All Hearts Choir Group for initiating a goodbye summer dinner - dance fundraiser “OMG, Summer’s Gone!”, last August 23, 2014 in the Parish Hall. With a limited time preparation of two (2) weeks! they were able to raise $3,000.00 and donated that amount to our Parish Building Fund; to Roy & Kathy Sahagun for their selfless dedication and loving commitment in maintaining the information in our Digital TV Display located below the bell tower; to Jose Nava & Francisco Gutierrez, their gener-ous wives and couples-members of the St. Martha Movimiento Familiar Cristiano (MFC) for the $268.00 donation from their food sale last August 24, 2014, to our Parish Building Fund; to Linda Matsumoto for volunteering to keep beautiful and nice the linings (look at the velvet colors this time!) of our Offertory Collection baskets; to the Sunday Mass offerers (families and individuals) who re-sponded to the “Feed my Sheep” ministry of our St. Martha Parish Ushers (English & Spanish) and brought canned goods and other food items to be offered during the Mass for the poor. Learn to stop inappropriate activity before it happens

Teach your child to respect the word “stop!” Teach your preschooler that “stop” means “stop,” and that your child has the right to stop people from touching

his or her body. Obviously, exceptions will have to be made for doctors and parents, but even parents must listen when a child doesn’t want to be tickled or hugged anymore. Rein-forcing this excellent lesson gives your child the power to recognize -- and to stop -- “bad touching” by others if it should happen.

SEEK THE LORD

In today’s opening reading, Isaiah urges us to “seek the LORD” who is “near” and can be “found” (Isaiah 55:6). Then Isaiah says God’s ways are as high above our ways “as the heavens are above the earth” (Isaiah 55:9). So we search, not because God is hiding, but because our tendencies are so different from God’s ways that we get lost. How are God’s ways so high above our ways? The example Isaiah gives is that God’s way is to be “generous in forgiving” (Isaiah 55:7). And our way? We try to be “fair.” You hurt me, so then I hurt you back, just as hard. Then, of course, you . . . . And on it goes. In today’s Gospel Jesus teaches that God is not “fair” like that. Instead, God is so generous we can hardly un-derstand it. The same wage for one hour as for a whole day of work? Not fair! “Seek the Lord,” and we might find a God who calls us to be, not fair, but generous be-yond expectations. Copyright © J. S. BUSCAR AL SEÑOR

En la primera lectura de hoy, Isaías nos insta a “buscar al Señor” que está “cerca” y puede “encontrarse” (Isaías 55:6). Entonces Isaías dice que los caminos de Dios se elevan por encima de nuestros caminos, “así como el cielo está muy alto por encima de la tierra” (Isaías 55:9). Buscamos, no porque Dios está escondido, sino porque nuestras tendencias son tan diferentes a los caminos de Dios que nos perdemos. ¿Cómo es que los caminos de Dios están por encima de nuestros caminos? El ejemplo que Isaías nos da es que el camino de Dios es ser “generoso en perdonar” (Isaías 55:7). ¿Y cómo es nuestro camino? Nosotros tratamos de ser “justos”. Tú me ofendes, entonces yo te ofendo también. Entonces, por supuesto, tú. . . Y así sucesivamente. En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús nos dice que Dios no es “justo” de esa manera. Al contrario, Dios es tan generoso que no podemos ni siquiera entenderlo. ¿Pagar el mismo salario por una hora que por todo un día? ¡No es justo! “Busca al Señor” y encontrarás a un Dios que me llama a ser, no justo, sino más generoso de lo que nos podemos imaginar. Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat weekend for Healing after Abortion

Rachel’s Vineyard retreat is for men and women struggling with the emotional and spiritual pain

of abortion. The retreat is designed to help participants work through repressed grief and anger in a safe, nonjudgmental setting and come to acceptance, healing, and hope for the fu-ture. Developed in the Roman Catholic Tradition, it utilizes spiritual exercises and rituals to help grieve the loss of unborn children and to accept God’s forgiveness.
