    Bhagavad Gita Course

    taught bySri Swami Vishwananda

Date: 30.07.2014 16.08.2014 Place: Shree Peetha Nilaya

The Bhagavad Gita, literally meaning the Song of the Lord, is an ancient Indian scripture composed in the form of a dialogue between God and man. It opens dramatically on the battlefield, as the warrior Arjuna turns in anguish to the Lord for answers to the fundamental questions of life.

The Song of the Lord reveals the purpose and goal of human existence. It describes the science of self-realisation and the exact process by which human beings can establish their

eternal relationship with God. The Bhagavad Gita is for those who wish to reach a state of happiness which is beyond what can be achieved from the fulfilment of worldly desires which money, name and fame can give.

The ancient scriptures have classified knowledge in two ways; para and apara. Para is knowledge which has the ability to liberate oneself. Apara is knowledge which will further attach oneself to illusion. To receive knowledge from a teacher that has never had the direct

experience of the Divine, can lead one further into illusion. On the other hand, to receive wisdom from a realised spiritual master, who is always in constant communion with the Divine, can lead to liberation.

For the first time, Sri Swami Vishwananda has decided to give commentary on the Bhagavad Gita for 18 consecutive days. To receive the wisdom from a spiritual master, as He demystifies and expands on one of the greatest spiritual texts ever composed, will be a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Whenever there is a decline in Dharma, whenever human beings are moving away from the path, whenever human beings are getting

entangled by all the negativity, the Lord will come to the rescue. - Bhagavad Gita, Chapter IV, Verse 7

The Shrimad Bhagavatham retreat was the time when Swami captivated us by painting a rich tapestry of the glory and sweetness of the Krishna leela. He opened up before our very eyes the beauty of Krishnas pastimes. He placed us amongst the blessed cowherds who witnessed Krishnas heroic feats, amongst the simple Gopis who were lost in their devotion to Krishna. This retreat was the time when Swami caused the Krishna of Vrindavan to become a reality in our hearts.
