BPHS Forensics Team Off To A Great Start! The BPHS Forensics Team finished among the Top 10 Teams at their first two tournaments.

Rotary Names Jarrod Cingel Its October

Student Of The Month

The Rotary Club of Bethel Park named BPHS senior Jarrod Cingel the October Student of the Month in recognition of Jarrod’s commitment to school and community service.

Jarrod coordinates the annual Staff Appreciation Week activities for the Student Government Association; he volunteers at the Carnegie Science Center; his Eagle Scout Project benefitted his church; and he interned at Carnegie Mellon University, where he helped to develop transportation solutions for the disabled.

BPHS Students Raise $1,200 For Breast Cancer Research

BPHS Future Business Leaders of America and Sports and Entertainment Management Class students sold pink bandanas for $1 each for the BPHS Football “Pink Out” Game in October and raised $1,200 for breast cancer research. They donated the money to St. Clair Hospital’s Breast Care Center.

Eight Bethel Park High School musicians have been selected to participate in the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s Honors Band Concert, which will be held on Sunday, November 24 at West Mifflin High School.

Seven Bethel Park High School musicians participated in the “Winds of the Future” Symposium at Duquesne University on October 28, where they were exposed to college level instruction and had the opportunity to play with other gifted area high school musicians.

BPHS Guidance Counselor Lorri Smith recruited over 30 professionals to come and speak with BPHS students in small groups about their careers, through a newly-created Career Spotlight Series that ran the month of November. Secondary Students Remember Active Soldiers And Veterans

On Veterans Day

BPHS American Literature students wrote letters to a unit of soldiers stationed in Egypt and the Sinai Peninsula and communicated with a soldier via Skype.

BPHS and IMS students in the Bring A Smile To The Service Group and the IMS Student Council thanked veterans with coffee and cookies in the IMS cafeteria on Veteran’s Day.

NAMS Sixth Grade students wrote letters to active servicemen and veterans, thanking them for their sacrifices.

NAMS Students Enter Gingerbread House Into

Contest

Neil Armstrong Middle School students in the Social Skills Group worked together to create a gingerbread house that they entered in the PPG Place Gingerbread Contest.

The theme of their house is “Christmas at NASA” and the students worked in small groups and used their talents to create this beautiful work of art this will be on display at PPG Place this holiday season.

Good luck to Mrs. Yakubic’s, Mrs. Graney’s and Mrs. Tabak’s students in the competition!

Washington First Graders Fill Six Backpacks For African Orphans

The First Grade students in Mrs. Ellison’s, Mrs. McGinnis’ and Mrs. Walsh’s rooms at Washington Elementary School filled six backpacks with school supplies that were sent to the Hope of Hope Orphanage and School in Nyadire, Zimbabwe with volunteers from Christ United Methodist Church.

The backpacks were donated by North Face, thanks to Mrs. Ellison’s husband.
