Best Wishes Br. Nishu & Family, May God’s abundant blessings be upon you all.

He is able to do things that are far beyond our imagination and win the battle for us. God being our director, even if we are a mere PAWN in the battle, we will conquer and defeat the greatest and the mightiest enemy. Paul beautifully articulates the same in Philippian 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. As I conclude, I am reminded of a beautiful hymn written by Sabrine Baring-Gould in 1856.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,With the cross of Jesus going on before.Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;forward into battle see his banners go! Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,But the church of Jesus constant will remain.Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail; We have Christ’s own promise, and that cannot fail.

Let us be submissive in God’s hands and He will direct us in our day-to-day battle with the enemy. Then the victory will be ours. May we join together to say as Psalmist David, “Yea, though I walk through the val-ley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me.” – May the Lord direct us all… – Amen

Check-Mate... Who is directing us?Benson Thomas K

Chess is a very interesting game we love to play. A game that requires a lot of thinking. It is a battlefi eld that is con-trolled by two individuals, seated on each side of the Chess Board. Each individual controls 16 pieces, consists of

1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Knights, 2 Bishops, 2 Rooks and 8 Pawns- that has 6 different Moves (abilities or features or talents). Each piece is used to attack and overcome the opposition. The game is won when the opponent’s King is captured in an inescapable threat- “Checkmate”. The victory depends on which of the two Individuals are farsighted, calculative and smart with his or her move using 16 pieces to subdue the opponent.

Our life too is a battlefi eld like the Chess Game. We are also in a con-stant battle with the enemy (Evil-the opposition). We are equipped with certain talents, abilities and features (moves) which could be used at our freewill. At times, the endowed abilities are not enough to fi ght the en-emy. That is when we seek assistance. It normally comes to us from our parents, siblings, relatives, friends (the other 15 pieces) etc. They help us, guide us and assist us to move forward. However, there is another power (individual) that brings all these assistance together to help us in our day-to-day battle with the enemy. I would call that individual the Superpower- God- our Father in Heaven. Our opponent, in the battle fi eld (who directs the other pieces) is Satan. It is very important to ensure that the right individual is directing us in the battle. It should always be our Father in Heaven not Satan. To be directed by our undefeatable Father in Heaven, it is important that we submit ourselves into His hands; which is only possible by following His Commandments. The Bible says in Prov-erbs 3:6; In all thy ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your path. As we acknowledge Him in all our ways, He will start directing our path. His directions will always lead us to victory by overcoming every obstacle.

The Bible talks about examples of men who became mighty and famous just because they were directed by God. Moses was a Shepherd in the wilderness. Once directed by God, he performed wonders in Egypt and became the Great One to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. David, being directed by God, was able to bring down the mighty Goliath. From being a mere shepherd, he went on to become the King of Israel. It confi rms that our abilities don’t really make a difference; the important factor is who is directing our abilities. We could be the most knowledgeable or talented person, but the wisdom to implement our talent and knowledge, comes from God. As it affi rms in the scripture in Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord giveth wisdom, out of His mouth cometh knowledge and understand-ing. Let us submit ourselves into the hands of God and fi ght the battle.
