SUPPLEMENTAL ASSESSMENT INFORMATION Please refer to the enclosed “Assessor’s Notification of Supplemental Assessment” from the County Assessor’s Office for specific information about: 1. Assessments on the Supplemental Roll 2. Right to Appeal the value shown 3. Exemptions The supplemental tax bill is due on the date the bill is mailed. Delinquent dates are determined by the mailing date on the front of the bill. If the bill is mailed between July 1 and October 31, the first installment becomes delinquent if not paid by December 10 of the same year. The second installment becomes delinquent if not paid by the following April 10. If the bill is mailed between November 1 and June 30, the first installment becomes delinquent on the last day of the month following the month the bill is mailed. The second installment becomes delinquent on the last day of the fourth month following the first installment delinquent date. A 10% penalty applies to late payments and an additional $10.00 cost applies to late second installment payments. When the delinquent date falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the delinquent date is extended to the close of business on the next business day. DUE DATES AND DELINQUENT DATES Taxes on the supplemental roll become a lien against real property on the date of change in ownership or completion of new construction [R & T Code Section 75.54]. If another change in ownership occurs before the supplemental tax bill is mailed, taxes for the period between the initial change in ownership and the subsequent change in ownership are entered onto the unsecured tax roll in the name of the prior owner. The remaining supplemental taxes become a lien against the property payable by the new owner. LIEN DATE 21 22 Make your check payable to SDTTC, write your Supplemental bill number on your check, and include the original payment stub. Partial payments are not accepted. Any check returned unpaid by your bank will incur a $25.00 fee, and penalties will apply if the check is returned after the delinquent date. This also applies to e-check payments. PAYMENT BY CHECK 23 Payments sent through the mail are considered received on the USPS postmark date, or if none, on the date received. MAIL EARLY Any questions regarding tax rates or tax distribution should be directed to the Auditor & Controller at (858) 694-2901. For questions regarding Assessed Value see enclosed insert. TAX RATES 24 If taxes remain unpaid after June 30 following the second installment delinquent date, the property will become tax defaulted and will incur redemption penalties beginning July 1 of the same year. Note: A fee of $1 is charged for duplicate tax bills. This bill does not replace your regular annual secured property tax bill which becomes delinquent if not paid by December 10 and April 10.
