Central Texas communities

are extremely involved with

their neighborhood businesses

and understand quality, which

is why nearly 40,000 votes

came in for this year’s Central

Texas’ 100 Best reader’s poll.

Each year, we at the Daily

Herald look forward to the

Central Texas’ 100 Best reader’s

poll and publication. From

receiving ballots to announcing

the winners, we enjoy the

opportunity to interact with

our readers and Central Texas

neighbors.

The process was initiated

in August when we began

publishing the official ballot in the Daily Herald. The

ballot asks our readers to

tell us where to find the best businesses and services in 100

different categories.

As part of the procedure,

ballots are only counted

if a name, address and

phone number is provided.

Ballots that do not have this

information are discarded.

We uphold this policy in an

effort to prevent ballot box

stuffing and to ensure the most accurate results to our survey.

Daily Herald readers were

able to submit ballots through

September 17. Once the polls

are closed, we begin to count

the submitted votes.

Winners are placed into two

categories: “Best” and “One

of the Best.” The first-place

winner in a category is named

“Best”, and the three runners-up are named “One of the Best.”

Every business that

wins is given a certificate of recognition and the

opportunity to purchase a

banner with the official “100 Best” logo, which changes

every year.

As you shop around town,

go out to eat, have your vehicle

serviced, you will notice these

certificates and banners displayed by the businesses

that won.

This gives the business

credibility since locals are the

ones who voted for those

establishments and made them

the best in their category.

The Central Texas’ 100

Best reader’s poll is a unique

opportunity for us at the

Killeen Daily Herald to learn

where our readers go to find the best products and services

in the area.
