Design the Letter Side of Tote Fabric Prep: Cut one piece of decorator fabric (or cotton
fabric with fused batting) approximately 20 tall by 16 wide;
Create the Monogram Block Select New Motif > Motifs Folder > Diane Gaudynski
Design #20 Select the Jumbo Hoop Duplicate and mirror image left/right and top/bottom Drag and drop the motifs to form an S shape and
position design with some overlap Select the Retrieve Icon until both motifs are highlighted
and touch the Move Icon 2 times to center Select the Add icon and select the letter of choice
If the Alphabet resides on a USB stick, select the USB stick icon and select the Engraved Alphabet letter of choice
If the design was sent to the 830 via Artlink and the attached cable, select the design from the My Designs Folder
Press Check to confirm Select the Resequence Icon and stitch the design (omit stitching the box outline of
the letterit is the last color) Hoop OESD Heavy Weight Cut Away Stabilizer and Fabric in the Jumbo Hoop Save the design if desired Create Embroidered Band Fabric Prep: Cut 2 pieces of coordinating fabric to fit the Mega Hoop Select New Motif > Motifs Folder > Design #12 Select the Mega Hoop Touch Rotate 2 times to quick rotate 90 Select Endless Embroidery Increase Motif Count to 4 Select the Fit to Hoop Icon Deactivate the Reference Marks Press Check to Confirm Hoop OESD Heavy Weight Tear Away Stabilizer, spray with 505 Temporary
Adhesive Spray and lay fabric in hoop At the stitch out screen, select the Basting Outline option that goes around the
design only Activate the Resequence Icon and Stitch the design The tote needs 2 bands, rehoop and stitch a second band

Bottom Move so stems overlap Select design 1 (by touch or retrieve) and rotate 15 Duplicate a third time Mirror Image Top/Bottom and rotate approximately 15 Select Retrieve to select all and touch the Move Icon 2
times to Center Duplicate the leaf pattern 2 times for a total of 3 leaf

Select the Add icon Select Machine Icon>Motifs
Folder>Susanne Mueller Folder Design #11 Enlarge to 120% Select the Move Icon and use the knobs to
move the designthis ensures only the Susanne Mueller design will move and not move the quilt motifs
Add the Lettering Select the Add icon Select the Machine Icon Select the Alphabet Folder Select King Charles #1 Select lower case Using the virtual keyboard, type, be creative Check to Confirm Touch the Word Art Icon and adjust the
spacing to 20 by turning the stitch width knob
Create the arched lettering by turning the stitch length knob to about 96%
Move the lettering (with the knobs) to the upper left corner Rotate lettering so the stem is in between words Hoop the left side of the fabric with OESD Heavy Weight Cut-Away Stabilizer and attach Jumbo
Hoop to machine From the edit screen, use absolute check to
verify where to place each appliqu fabric Check each side at the widest point and
the North and south directions also Press the green check and stitch the first
design (do not use resequence) - when the design is finished stitching, use double curved scissors to trim about 1/8 away from the stitching line. Deliberately leave an even amount of seam allowance while trimming.

Assembling the Tote (Finished Tote Size 16 x 20) Trim the Appliqu Panel to 17 x 21 Piece the Letter Side of the Tote
Trim the Letter fabric to 12 x 17 Cut the bands 1/4 away from the basting outline on the
long sides and 17 tall Cut 2 additional main fabrics 3 1/2 x 17 Join the pieces together (as pictured) using the BERN-
INA Dual Feed and Patchwork Foot #37D with a 1/4 seam. NOTE: when attaching bands, mirror image them
Edgestitch on both sides of the bands with the BERN-INA Dual Feed and Edgestitch Foot #10D. Let the blade of the foot ride in the seam and with an altered needle position, edgestitch with a straight stitch.
Trim the Letter Panel to 17 x 21 Make the tote straps
Cut 4 strips, 3 x 24, for the tote straps Cut 4 bias strips 1 1/8 x 25 and iron with Best Press Attach the Binder Attachment #88 with Foot #95C to the
BERNINA 830 Place 2 strap pieces wrong sides together and bind
both long edges Stitch the bottom and side seams of the tote Stitch the Lining Fabrics (21 x 16 1/2) on both sides and partially on the bottom, but leaving an
opening for turning Sandwich the straps in between the lining and tote right sides together and stitch the top edge Turn Right sides out and use a point turner to turn out the corners of the tote and lining Use Edgestitch Foot #10D to close the lining opening using a straight stitch and altered needle
position Edgestitch the tote top with the BERNINA Dual Feed and Edgestitch Foot #10D
