Chapter 2 Project

You will work in groups of 3-4 people to complete a project of your choice regarding the chapter 2 material.

Choose one of the following projects:1) Film a cooking show in Italian using ch. 2 vocab.2) Make a cookbook in Italian using ch. 2 vocab.3) Write a week’s menu for the ideal school cafeteria in Italian,

concentrating on the food served using ch. 2 vocab.Further explanations:

1) Cooking Show – The video must be burned on a CD to be handed in to the teacher. It should be 5-10 minutes long, and it must be conducted completely in Italian. Every member of the group must speak, and no reading of lines should occur while filming. You should have an Italian name for the show, and you are demonstrating how to prepare a meal of your choice. Remember to be creative and make sure the video is of quality and that all members can be heard clearly. (performance & film interest)

2)Cookbook – The cookbook must be creative, neat and colorful. You and your group must pick a theme for the cookbook and it must be completely in Italian with an Italian title. You should have representation of a multi-course meal with pictures/drawings, ingredients and instructions all in Italian. Another possibility is to have representation of each meal of the day with

pictures/drawings, ingredients and instructions all in Italian. In all there should be a 5 different courses or meals demonstrated. (artistic interest)

3)Cafeteria Menu: You and your group must create a week’s menu for your ideal school cafeteria completely in Italian. You must write detailed descriptions of the meals for five days in Italian with ingredients all in Italian. You should make this on PowerPoint, devoting a slide to each day of the week. You must submit a digital and a hard copy of the PowerPoint presentation. Remember you are trying to sell this menu so make sure your descriptions present your ideas well. Make sure the presentation is also interesting to look at. (writing & technology interest)

All project options require presenting in front of the class. Your group must introduce your project and present it in Italian. If you choose to do the video, you must give the class background information about your ideas for the video and the food presented in Italian.

This project is due Tuesday November 26, 2013. If you plan on not being in school that day, you must present the project beforehand. The chapter 2 project is worth a test grade and all members of the group get the same grade. If you would like to bring a sample of a food from your project, make sure you have enough for the class, all of the ingredients in the food are written out (for allergy purposes-you should avoid anything with nuts), you have paper goods needed to serve and eat the food, and that

the food is suitable for school (no tiramisu because of raw eggs and liquor).
