• Franklin was born in Boston on January 17, 1706. He was the tenth son of soap maker, Josiah Franklin. Benjamin's mother was Abiah Folger.

When he started.

• he would write letters at night and sign them with a name of a fictional widow named “silence dogwood” for his brothers newspaper.

he went to work for his step-brother James Benjamin secretly contributed 14 essays to his half-brothers paper called The New

England Courant.

And worked on his own newspaper called The Pennsylvania Gazette.
