To Help is to LoveProceeds from the event support the Hewell Kids’ Kidney Center located at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children. The Hewell Kids’ Kidney Center opened in January 2012 to treat all aspects of renal disease. Each year, we have treated more than 1,200 children, including children from our community as well as visitors to the area, who are on dialysis and able to vacation for the first time with their families because of our facility.
Children with kidney disease have tremendous challenges that can only be met by this type of integrated facility. We are the only hospital-based center caring for children with end-stage renal disease in Central Florida.
The Kidney Center is located at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children which enables a specially-trained pediatric staff, including dialysis nurses, nutritionists, social workers, child life specialists and teachers, to work
with these children while they receive lifesaving dialysis therapy.
This is the ideal setting for these children as it offers a warm, safe and child-friendly environment, where they can interact with other children and their families during the transition period before receiving a kidney transplant.
Our goal at the Kidney Center is to provide children and their families with state-of-the-art renal care, allowing for a more effective integration into their daily lives.
Funds from this tournament have been used to build the dialysis bays at the Kidney Center. However, there is always more to be done when it comes to improving the lives of our youngest patients. Your philanthropic support is appreciated and vital to helping us better serve the needs of our community’s children.
