Acumulus Interaction Design Fundamenals, Sketching, Prototyping, Scenarios. 2009|

Acumulus is a large-scale installation of networked multi-touch dis-

plays in airports around the globe. By enabling travelers to compose

and read short, anonymous messages for and from each other, it

satisfies the inherently human interest in sharing stories with those

around us, while simultaneously highlighting two technologies that

have greatly shrunk the distance between people: air travel, and the

internet.

Acumulus makes use of a number of near-future technologies in

order to engage passersby and provide an enjoyable user experi-

ence for casual interaction in a public setting. The system uses an

intelligent filtering system to avoid unwanted messages from being

displayed in the screens. Multi-touch /Gestural Interfaces and Spa-

tial/Image Recognition are some of the technologies considered in

the ideation of the project.

Experience NYC | Beatriz Vizcaino

Experience NYC Mobile App, Sketching, Wireframing. 2009|

Experience NYC is an Iphone application that allows

users to search for events, natural places and land-

marks. In addition, users can also document their

experiences through videos or pictures, and share

them with their friends through social networks. As

the user documents his experiences the system

creates a “Travel Log”. Experience NYC app, uses the

NYC data mine database for information about events

and natural centers and google maps for landmark

information. The application was designed for

tourists visiting New York City.

Subtrack | Beatriz Vizcaino

Subtrack Mobile App, Web, Visual Design, Prototyping, Wireframing. 2009|

Subtrack is a system composed of two elements, an iphone application and a website. The system is

designed for a future NYC subway enabled with RFID tags on the metrocard and readers in the subway

trains and stations. Each time the user enters a train or station her information is added to a database

that is available through the subtrack application or website. The user will be able to access information

such as the trains taken, visted stations, waiting times and times in transit.

Mindfull | Beatriz Vizcaino

Mindfull Physical Computing, Nutrition, Prototyping, User Research. 2009|

Mindfull is a fork rest that reminds people to put their fork down and chew

between bites while eating. It offers a way for fast eaters to be mindful of their

speed, allowing the mind time to process when the body is becoming full.

Friday Fever Game Design, Visual Design, Wireframes, Character Design. 2010|

The objective of the project was to create innovative services and products inspired by personal passions and socially con-

scious endeavors that would fuel the creation of rich and meaningful products and services.

NYTimes App | Beatriz Vizcaino

NYTimes app Mobile App, Wireframing. 2009|

The objective of this project was to re-imagine the New York Times as a startup and build a new product with the

same content that is produced daily and delivered to the readers.

With the Pandora and Netflix models as inspirations, a new mobile app with a personalized delivery of content

was designed. Additionally, the app allows for different media types, like video, audio and plain text.

Hydr8 | Beatriz Vizcaino

Hydr8 Mobile App, Sketching, Wireframes, Prototyping, Research. 2010|

Hydr8 is an interactive water bottle and iPhone app that monitors water intake and reminds users to refill in order

to reach their daily water consumption goal. As part of the project, my group and I started the concept generation

phase by creating concept diagrams in Omnigraffle. As a result of that activity we focused on wellness as the subject

matter for the class. We continued to define our idea and the result was a water consumption tracking system that

would encourage users to be more mindful about the amount of water they drink during the day. Methods such as,

paper prototyping, screen casting, user research, persona creation, user scenario, and flash prototyping were used

throughout the course. collaborators: Carmen Dukes, Colleen Miller, Derek Chan|
