back in school but we’re extending our

summer of fun right on into the fall!

We have a jam-packed schedule of

events all autumn long that will appeal to

those of all ages and interests. If you are

into a day at the beach with live music, a car show, beer and wine, and

some great food, join us for BeachFeast. If you would like to rub elbows

with celebrities, join us for the Gold Coast International Film Festival.

And if you are looking for a thrilling night of fright, join us at the popular

Spooky Walk. And this year, our newest event “Autumn Treat” will feature

soothing classical music and desserts that will satisfy your sweet tooth. I

look forward to seeing you during our Fall of Fun!

Bring the kids or leave them home and enjoy one last day on the beach this season as the Town hosts the 2nd Annual BeachFeast. Don’t miss it!

Enjoy:• A wide variety of succulent foods courtesy of food trucks

lining the boardwalk, including one of last year’s favorites, Miami Grille

• A host of wine and beer vendors including Murphy’s Bar of Mineola

• Live musical acts including the Rock Band Firestone, new wave/post punk band the Retromantics, and the Rubix Kube 80’s music tribute band

• A classic car show

The Gold Coast International Film Festival is celebrating its 5th anniversary along the historic Gold Coast of North Hempstead. Each year, the festival celebrates the films and filmmakers who capture our imaginations on the big screen. Bring your family and friends to enjoy:

WATER CONSERVATION TIPAlthough most people plant during the spring, the best time to plant is actually the fall when plants will require less water and will look better come springtime! Also, since the fall season brings wetter weather, consider using a rain barrel to collect and store rainwater runoff throughout the wet months. This marks the 10th year that Project Independence has been helping senior reisdents age comfortably in their own homes. Now, for the 3rd time, the Town will be partnering with Hofstra University and North Shore LIJ to host a conference that will bring all Project Independence services under one roof for one very special day!

RESIDENTS URGED TO CALL 311 TO REPORT ILLEGAL DISCHARGES INTO STORM WATER SYSTEMSupervisor Bosworth is urging residents to call the Town’s 311 Call Center to report any pollution that they observe entering the roadways and the storm drains. Pollution that enters the roadways is carried to the drains, and it discharges directly to Hempstead Harbor, Manhasset Bay and Little Neck Bay. For this reason, we also remind residents not to throw litter or cigarette butts on the road. Residents should be on the lookout for:

• Failing septic systems• Illegal dumping of restaurant grease,

oils or auto fluids• “Dumpster juice” from dumpsters or trucks• Wash water from commercial car washes• “Mystery” fluids with strange colors, odors,

bubbles, or opaqueness
