Spend a Fun-Filled Day at the Town Beach!

North Hempstead Beach Park will play host to our eighth annual FamilyFest celebration!

FamilyFest 2012 kicks off at noon on September 9th with activities

including kayaking, wildlife presentations, sandcastle building, arts and

crafts, kite flying, face painting, food, give-aways and much more!

FamilyFest will showcase four great musical

groups. The Fabulous Motown Revue will

kick off the musical entertainment with a

foot-stomping presentation of Motown

anthems. Cold Spring Harbor will follow,

keeping the audience singing along with

an interactive Billy Joel tribute. Almost Queen

will then take the stage with a tribute to

British rock band Queen. Bringing down the

curtains on the musical presentation, Total

Soul, an exciting dance band, will have the

entire audience boogying.

FamilyFest 2012 is brought to you by North Hempstead in partnership

with the Town’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation,

the Department of Parks and Recreation and a host of generous

corporate sponsors.

The event is FREE. A $5 per vehicle parking fee will be charged.

Did You Know?

• In 1775, a group of North Hempstead patriots

declared their allegiance to the revolutionary

cause and broke away from the Town of

Hempstead which was predominantly loyal to

England at the time.

• The Town of North

Hempstead was

officially established

through an act of

the New York State

Legislature in 1784.

• In the 19th Century,

North Hempstead became the seat of Queens

County, which included the three towns of North

Hempstead, Hempstead and Oyster Bay.

• In 1899, each of these three towns incorporated

and became the County of Nassau.

North Hempstead’s S.T.O.P.program offers residents ofthe Town the opportunity todispose of their householdhazardous waste, electronicwaste (E-Waste), compactfluorescent bulbs andhousehold batteries in anenvironmentally friendlymanner. Many people do notrealize that ordinary household products, such as aerosolsand cleaners, can be corrosive, explosive, or toxic if mixedindiscriminately with regular household garbage. All are invited to join usthis holiday season atClark Botanic Gardenas we unite in a wintercelebration of our various faiths, culturesand histories.
