Are you a beach lover looking for a Mediterranean beach holiday with a bit of a difference? Then

North Cyprus is the place for you!

The north of the island doesn’t just have one or two good beaches in one location, but loads of

GREAT beaches dotted all along the coast from east to west. Many visitors to the island think

they’ve done very well when they find Kervansaray, Escape and Denizkizi Beaches on the west

side of Kyrenia (Girne), and although these are all very good, clean and popular beaches, there

are many beaches that are even better, as well as others that are just absolutely stunning. Being

a relatively small island with no traffic outside of Kyrenia and Nicosia means all of these beautiful

beaches can be reached within a couple of hours drive along scenic coastal and mountain roads.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1- Arrive in North Cyprus, settle in the hotel

Arrive Cyprus, transfer to a hotel on the west side of Kyrenia. Your hotel will be on the coastal

road. Local buses and taxis run the road should you wish to take one before your hire car arrives

the following day. Kyrenia (Girne) is only a few miles away depending where you are

accommodated.

Day 2- Beach day. Explore the beaches west side of Kyrenia between Guzelyali and

Sadrazamkoy

You will receive the hire car and your exploring can start. Hit the beaches along the north west

coastfrom Guzelyali to Sadrazamkoy and you will see stunning alcoves and tucked away sandy

beaches. Enjoy the scenery and swimming of the gems along the coast.

Day 3 – Beach day – Visit the beaches of Kervansaray, Escape or Denizkizi

There are some lovely beaches close to Kyrenia like: Kervansaray Beach, Escape Beach or

Denizkizi Beach. They are very popular with the locals. They arenot as stunning as the beaches

on day 2 but they offer a lot more facilities around them like : sun-lounges, parasols, beach

cafes, toilets and showers but require a small fee for use (5 to 20 Turkish Lira).

Day 4- Visit St Hilarion Castle and Kyrenia in the morning/ Beach day in the afternoon

Your hire car will arrive first thing in the morning so you can choose to have a morning out

exploring before enjoying another relaxing afternoon on the beach. In the morning we

recommend our guests to visit the crusader castle of St. Hilarion first before it gets too hot (as

there are stairs to climb!) and then continue on to Kyrenia. In Kyrenia you can wander through

the old town or visit the castle and shipwreck museum before sitting down for leisurely lunch or a

cold drink in the harbour.

Day 5 – Drive to Alagadi and Esentepe and explore the beaches west of Kyrenia

Head to the Karpaz via the beach! In the morning you will check-out from the hotel and drive east

along the coastal roads to the Karpaz and arrive at the hotel in Karpaz. We would recommend

our guests to leave the hotel around 10:00 and drive east along the coast to either Alagadi Beach

(approx. 40 minute drive) or Kaplica Beach (approx. 1 hour and 15 minute drive). Both Alagadi

and Kaplica Beaches are beautiful beaches with good facilities (toilets, showers, beach-front

restaurant/bar) where you can easily enjoy a few hours relaxing.

Day 6- Visit Buffavento Castle in the morning/ Beach day in the afternoon

We recommend that you visit the stronghold of Buffavento in the morning, which is ‘’the fort that

makes fun of the winds’’. Part of three remaining castles,it’s definitely worth a visit. Afternoon on

the beach!




Day 7- Drive to Tatlisu and Kaplica, explore the beaches of the area

Continue to go eastwards and you will reach the beaches of Tatlisu and Kaplica. You will now

start driving next to sea. You can almost touch the little bays and the rocky beaches by

stretching your hand. You can see the remains of the old road in places winding like a snake in

the undulated terrain.

Day 8 – Visit Kantara Castle/ Beach day in the afternoon

An optional visit to Kantara castle is on offer on day 8.Kantara is the easternmost of the three

castles ( St . Hilarion - Buffavento - Kantara) and had the greatest strategic importance. Enjoy

the afternoon on the sandy beaches of the area. Plenty of fish restaurants to choose from for a

nice meal.

Day 9- Drive to Karpaz along the unspoilt coast of the peninsula

Head to the Karpaz. In the morning you will check-out from the hotel in Tatlisu (or Kaplica) and

continue to drive east along the coastal road to Karpaz. You will soon see the turquoise sea, the

sand dunes and some lonely wanderers – the wild donkeys of Karpaz.

Day 10 – Visit the mosaics of Sipahi / Beach day in the afternoon

Beach Day.Anywhere you would settle in Karpaz, you would be by the sea or maximum 10-15

ride to the beach. If you end up at Golden beach, you would almost roll out of bed and onto what

is arguably the most beautiful beach on the island. You can stay on the beach or try to see the

mosaics of Sipahi.

Day 11 – Drive to the beaches of Famagusta

Morning on the beach then a drive towards Famagusta. Golden Sands Beach is so beautiful that

we recommend spending the morning relaxing on the beach before driving towards Famagusta

via Bogaz with its lovely harbour. From Bogaz it’s about another 20-30 minutes drive to the Long

Beach Resort where you will spend the last few nights of your holiday.

Day 12 – Visit Famagusta town / Beach day in the afternoon

Visit Famagusta town with its ruins and monuments. It is one of the most historically diverse

walled cities of Europe. You can easily spend ½ a day there’ roaming’ through history. In the

afternoon you can go back to the sandy beaches. Famagusta area has plenty of them.

Day 13 – Visit the ruins of Salamis / Beach day in the afternoon

Visit the ruins of Salamis, which was one of the 10 city kingdoms in Cyprus and of major

importance during 6th century. It is 9km north of Famagusta. Check with the hotel or Kaleidoskop

for the Salamis theatre schedule. You might be lucky to attend a concert or a show.




Day 14 – Final day on the beach

Beach Day..Drop your hire car keys at the hotel reception first thing in the morning and then

spend the rest of the day relaxing on Long Beach.

Day 15- Transfer to airport. Depart Cyprus.

Getting there

By car and ferry Driving routes can be accessed via the following website: www.via.michelin.com. You drive to the south of Turkey and take a ferry from Mersin to Kyrenia.

By air

The nearest International airport is Ercan (flying via Turkey). Alternatively you can fly directly to Larnaca, but the transfer cost to your hotel becomes more expensiveif you fly via the south airport(s). We recommend that you arrange your transfer prior to your departure. Vivid Cyprus is able to organize flights and airport transfers for you. They are in addition to this package.




Dietary requirements

If you let us know in advance about your dietary requirements, we can advise the hotel(s) where

you are staying. However we are unable to guarantee a peanut free or allergen free trip, and

therefore, we strongly encourage that travellers with life-threatening or severe allergies take all

necessary medical precautions to prepare for the possibility of exposure.

Accommodation

2-3 star hotel on 7 nights (bed and breakfast basis, based on two people sharing). Solo travellers

are welcome. There is a surcharge for a single room.

Climate

Cyprus enjoys an intense Mediterranean climate with 320 days of sunshine a year. Summers are

hot and dry and last from June to September. Winters are changeable with cold and warmer

weather alternating. Autumn in October/November and spring in April/May are short and the

transition between winter and summer is rapid. Rain falls mainlyin winter and outside these

months precipitation israre therefore flora is much richer in flowers and lush looking in

March/April than in September/October but sea temperature is warmer in autumn. Average

summer temperatures in the coast are between 25 – 34 degrees C.
