Where there is always sun; so no shortage to vitamin D, pink walls, inspiring places, Instagram pictures and the best food hotspots. You know the drill: answering mails, calling with clients, be on time for deadlines… Every day you work your ass of in your company, because things are going well. It’s true that we are all brilliant in our own ways and most of us have a lot of experience under our belt in our specific fields. WHY YOU SHOULD GO ON A WOR KAT I ON

Board the plane and walk into a 1001-night-setting a couple of hours later, that’s Marrakech. Clearly Arabic and probably more colourful than any other city trip you’ll ever make. It’s magical, authentic, and an upcoming city. In Marrakech, everything revolves around the Medina. The Jemaa El-Fnaa square is filled with orange juice sellers, henna artists, acrobats and snake charmers, which are mostly for the tourists. Locals prefer Gueliz – the new town – which is filled with occidental shops and restaurants. Honestly though, we don’t like it at all, we prefer to stay in the Medina where we can discover and explore many awesome hotspots, which are a secret to many tourists.

Marrakech isn’t the capital of Morocco (Rabat is) but it is one of the imperial cities and maybe the most beloved one as well. We totally get it! It is brimming full of character, you can shop endlessly, and the food is amazing. Next to that, Marrakech is a city of many contrasts. There are very rich people, but you will also come across very poor beggars. You’ll see women who are completely covered and women who walk around in crop tops. There is extreme chaos, but also serene tranquility.

When you want to shop in Marrakech, you really can’t skip the Souks. A cane-covered market that looks like an unorganized gang of misery, but where there is structure. There is a main street (which you access from Jemaa El-Fnaa) where you can find a selection of all types of goods. Around that the street there are districts which are divided by different craft.

Liselore is an adventurer that travels the world. She started to share her travel pictures on Instagram and gained 30 k followers in no time. Besides traveling, photography is one of her big passions. Her camera in one hand and her phone in the other, chasing the sun, on a hunt for new adventures, interesting people and stories to tell.

Her social media talent was noticed by some big players in the game. Big brands hire her to create a social media strategy, and she recently signed with RTL (the biggest tv channel in The Netherlands). She knows everything about social media strategies and how to use it for your business, and she’ll share all her insights during two masterclasses at the workation: social branding and social media marketing.

1. Social branding In the first session, we will focus on social branding. Who are you as a brand? How can you reflect that in your social media and what kind of content do you need for that? After a big brainstorm, Liselore will show us how to create amazing content. After that, you’ll get to work and create your own content, that we’re going to review afterwards.

2. Social media marketing During the second session, we go more in depth. You now know how to convey your story, but how do you make sure you reach the right people? How do you gain more followers and engage with them? How you turn followers into clients? Do you have to advertise, and if yes, how does it work? All important aspects that will be discussed during the second masterclass.

After these masterclasses your social media game is on fire and you have a concrete strategy for the rest of the year.

We do want to surprise you a little, so the exact schedule will be communicated when you arrive! The main part of the workation are the workshops, masterminds and brainstorm sessions. The group activities (including exploring the city and dinners) will take up around 75 percent of our time. That leaves 25 percent for you to do whatever you want! Let’s give you a sneak peek of the activities:

M OR OCCA N COOKING C L ASS This activity starts at 4.30 pm with us taking you to the market – the Souks – where local sellers sell their food. You’ll learn about the quality of the products by watching, smelling, feeling and mainly… tasting! We provide you with a shopping list and money. You need to haggle like a real Moroccan, because that’s how they roll. Then we walk to the most gorgeous traditional Moroccan house to cook with local Moroccan ladies which are very strict. When we prepared and cooked everything, it’s time to taste. We enjoy some good Moroccan while and our home cooked meals. At 10 pm, we close the night with some Moroccan mint tea (or more wine).

P I CTUR E PER F E C T HOT SP OT SBecause we’re with a group of Insta babes, we can’t skip all the good photo spots. We know the cutest restaurants and hidden gems. We go to all the known places, but I also take you to my favorite - yet very secret - spots! Make sure your camera and phone are charged and there is enough memory, because you’ll need it.

SH I SHA AVON DA tradition that we can’t (and don’t want to) skip. On the last night, strangers have become friends and we’re going out with our girl squad. Smoking the traditional shisha and drinking cocktails. The perfect ingredients for a night of endless laughing and dancing.

DO WE A LL SLEE P IN T HE SAME ACCOMMODAT ION?Yes! The best place to stay in Marrakech is in a Riad: a traditional Moroccan house with a courtyard. Riads used to belong to the wealthier citizens, but are nowadays renovated into the most stunning boutique hotels. Claimy has slept in more than 50 Riads and selected her two favourites for the workation. Because you don’t want to sleep in only one, we promise. Both Riads are rent exclusively for us.

I S M A R R A K ECH SAFE TO T RAVE L TO AS A WOMAN? In my experience? Definitely. It’s more than a feeling than a fact of course, because everyone experiences ‘feeling safe’ differently. I travel alone to Morocco all the time and there hasn’t been a single moment where I felt unsafe. While I’m there, I meet a lot other (female) travellers and they share the same feelings. It is a Muslim country and there are more men than women on the streets. But I feel safe, welcome and respected. In advance, I will provide a lot of information about the city and way to dress, for example. Next to that, we’re almost always with the group and if you don’t want to, you don’t have to walk alone. But it’s definitely possible!

I S THER E T I M E OFF TO WORK ON MY COMPANY? We have a busy schedule, but there is also enough free time. You will work on your company during the workshops and masterclasses, but in a different way. In the time off, you can choose what you want to do. Answer emails, elaborate the input of the workshops or discover the city. It’s up to you!

AM I A B LE TO DE C L ARE I T AS BU S INE SS COSTS? Workations are costs you invest in yourself and your company and are therefore business related costs. We provide a coworking space, accommodation, workshops and everything around the coworking and skill sharing. You can declare it as business costs, impossible to do when you’re ‘just’ on holiday and a nice bonus for every entrepreneur.
