Bath’s location

Bath is  in Somerset, South West of England, 156 km west of London.

Bath has a temperate climate which is generally wetter and milder than the rest of the country. The annual main temperature is approximately 10 °C. www.wikipedia.it

Roman epoch

ROMAN BATHS

The Romans built a temple in Bath around 50 AD. The temple was dedicated to Sul, a Celtic god and Minerva the Roman goddess of healing. They also built a public bath which was supplied by the hot springs.

Saxon epochSAXON BATH

After the Romans left the Saxons invaded Eastern England. They arrived in Bath, Cirencester and Gloucester. In the late 9th century Alfred the Great created a lot of fortified towns across his kingdoms called burghs. In 973 Edgar, the first king of all England was crowned in Bath.

The monuments of the city

The city is famous for its monuments such as the Roman baths. One of the city's main attractions has long been its famous hot spa water, fed by the area's hot springs.

Durham Park

Dyrham Park is a baroque mansion in an ancient deer park Dyrham became a showcase of Dutch decorative arts. The National Trust acquired it in 1961.

The Royal Crescent

The Royal Crescent, one of Bath’s most iconic landmarks, was built between 1767 and 1775. Today, it gives home to the five-star luxury hotels The Royal Crescent, a museum of Georgian life.

Prior Park Landscape Garden

Prior Park Landscape Garden  is an 18th-century landscape garden.It is in the south of Bath.

The garden was influential in defining the style of garden known as the "English garden" in continental Europe.

St Swithin's Church

The first Saxon church was built after 971 AD and dedicated to the memory of the Bishop of Winchester from 852 to 862. The foundations of this Saxon church lie beneath the floor of the crypt. The Saxon church was badly damaged by storms in 1739.

Bath Abbey

The Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, Bath, commonly known as Bath Abbey, is an Anglican parish church and a Benedictine monastery in Bath. The church has two organs and a peal of ten bells. The west front includes sculptures of angels climbing to heaven on two stone ladders.

The Circus is an example of Georgian architecture in the city of Bath.

The traditional food in Bath is the Sally Lunn bun a sort of tea cakes that were served hot in Spring Gardens public places of the city . They can be eaten fresh or salt covering .
