TIMING TECHNOLOGY

MYLAPS BIB TAGMyLaps gives us a reliable disposable bib tag system that can help cut down on finish line volunteers and simplify racer preparation.

RACE RESULT PRO CHIPThe pro chip is for higher speed events, like cycling, where a mat at the finish is too bulky or the athlete may be going too fast to be accurately read at the finish line. In addition, the chip stores data in order to provide split information in no-service areas.

FINISH LYNXUsing our Finish Lynx camera for photo-finish results allows for time-stamped photo results that are accurate to one thousandth of a second. Combining the Finish Lynx camera with chip timing into a single, accurate interface allows for consistent and incredibly accurate race times that are the industry standard for accuracy in timing NCAA sanctioned cross-country events.

MULTISPORT TAGThe multisport tag goes on the ankle and is for triathlons or other events where participants are competing in different sports during the same race, or where wearing a bib is not practical.

The finish line is crucial to a well-run event. Competitive Timing will help you build out your finish line using our equipment that will be made available to you at no additional cost.

INFLATABLE ARCH• 20’ - 30’ tall inflatable arch that is approxi-mately 20’-30’ wide and will cover at least one lane of most major roads. The arch provides an easily identifiable finish line for athletes.

• Our arches have space to hang a variety of custom banners. Contact us for specific measure-ments.

FINISH LINE FEATHER BANNERS• If your finish line is unable to accommodate the inflatable arch, we can signal the finish line with 16’ finish line feathers and flags.

RACE CLOCKS• Competitive Timing has large and small race clocks to accommodate any event size.

PA SYSTEMS• We will provide the PA system at the finish line with microphone, speakers and iPod com-ponents. We also come prepared to play upbeat music if you don’t have an iPod ready to go! Good for small to medium size events.

ANNOUNCER SCREEN• If you have an announcer at your event, we will provide them with a computer that will show the names and other custom information of the finishers as they cross the line.

• For an additional fee, we can set up an an-nouncer-specific feed before the finish line, so the announcer can read names as athletes head down the finishing stretch.

PACKET PREPARATION IS INCLUDED! If your event requires pre-assignment of bibs, we will prepare race packets ahead of time and have them ready to go in alphabetical or numerical order. All you need to do is provide volunteers to distribute the packets. We can also provide rosters, demographics, and general race information like t-shirt totals, participants per division, and total in each age group.

EXPO AND RACE DAY COMPUTER REGISTRATIONUsing CompetitiveTiming.com, this simple registration process can accommodate even the biggest procrastinators who register to race up to 15 minutes before the event. We provide software, laptops and training to assist with last-minute registration and race changes so that results on race day will be complete and accurate.

PREPARED PACKETS INCLUDE:

• Race bib (you provide or purchase bibs)

• Label on bib with participant & shirt information.

• Race chip with the unique ID number pre-assigned to each race participant

• Safety pins for race bibs are usually scattered on tables for participants to grab. You could also put pins in racer bags (pins paid for by race director).

EXPO, PACKETS, & REGISTRATION

DYNAMIC BIB ASSIGNMENTFor most races, we recommend assigning bib numbers on the spot at packet pickup. No more sifting through a pile of race packets to find the right one! We will provide devices with an easy-to-use check-in app and train your volunteers to check in athletes. We can also set up the app to show information such as t-shirt size or other giveaway information.

We provide a great race-day experience for participants with accurate results that are available right away at the finish line.

The following services are included with each event:

RESULTS KIOSK

• Using a provided 10-key pad to type in their bib number, race participants can print personal race results at the finish line or at the desired location of the race results tent.

• Results print onto a sticker that includes split times, place among gender and overall results.

RESULTS & VIDEO

FINISH LINE VIDEO WITH INDIVIDUAL RUNNER LINKS

• Re-live the live action at the finish line by viewing our finish line video. Video is edited and searchable so you don’t need to watch the whole video to see an indi-vidual’s finish. Just click on our Participant Lookup results and click the video link next to the athlete’s time to see his or her finish line video.

WEB RESULTS

• Web results are posted as finishers cross the finish line.

• Results are searchable and are listed by gender and age group.

• Participants can also print a finisher’s certificate using our Participant Lookup page.

TEXT AND E-MAIL RESULTS

• If using our registration platform, participants can opt to receive free text or e-mail result notifications.

The Competitive Timing mobile app can be used with any race that we time. For no addition-al charge, your race will be listed on our app with a registration link, date, and location.

CUSTOMIZATIONFor an additional fee, you can customize your event within the app however you like. We will give you personal access so you can add custom buttons, photos, or whatever information you like. This allows you to match your event’s branding and enhance participants’ experi-ence.

LIVE TRACKINGFor the premium racer/spectator experience, you can opt (for an additional fee) to include the live tracking feature in the app. In addition to automatic updates at split locations, this includes predicted arrival times so spectators can know approximately when to expect their athlete to arrive at specified points on the course.

Because we make bulk purchases of custom-designed bibs throughout the year, we are able to get you great prices on custom bibs for your event.

We can help design race bibs to match your event artwork and include QR codes for quick, error-free dynamic bib assignment.

ANNOUNCER MATSPutting a set of mats out in front of the finish line helps your announcer with who is coming before athletes arrive at the finish line.

BENEFITS TO MULTIPLE SPLIT TIME LOCATIONS:

• Announcer feed, or individual split times at crucial points along the race course such as 5K split times in a marathon, mile pace times in a 5K, etc.

• Triathlon segment split times including transition times.

• Relay segment results with individual results for each athlete.

• Network allows us to access servers from anywhere (even if that split is 3000 miles away) and still allows for accurate split results.

SPLIT TIME LOCATIONS

Bring your event to the next level by offering multiple split time locations on the race course. Split times will be recorded and published in online race results for each race participant, printable at the race results kiosks, and available through our mobile app and texting system.

We will work with you to determine the best locations and quantity of split locations for your race. Athletes and spectators enjoy more information about the course and enhance the quality and competitiveness of your event.

PARTICIPANT INFORMATION


The easiest way to ensure that we get all participant information seamlessly is to set up online registration for your event through http://CompetitiveTiming.com. Head over to the website and click the Race Director link at the top. Create a new account with your race and you’ll be pleasantly surprised! Online registration is tightly integrated with Competitive Timing to give you free text message results, finisher certificates and finisher video. Additionally, this integration will allow you to keep online registration open right up until the moment the race starts!For additional information, please contact us and we’ll give you all the details.

If you are already locked into another registration platform, we will need an export of the registrations or your username and password so we can make certain the registration list contains all the fields needed to provide results. We prefer to get a sample registration list long before your event and then a final list a day or two ahead of time. This is also a good time to close online registration so packets can be prepared.

Paper registrations can be directly entered into our timing software if necessary. If you are accepting paper registrations prior to race day, we ask that you enter the information into a spreadsheet and send it to us as a .csv file. In this case, we like to see a sample sheet ahead of time to make sure all information is entered correctly.

VOLUNTEERS


REGISTRATION VOLUNTEERSWe will supply computers for registration, but we’re very reliant upon you for people! This includes handing out packets and t-shirts, taking money and assigning bibs to new participants.

FINISH LINE VOLUNTEERSAt most events, we use disposable BibTags, but if we are using ProChips or Multi-Sport Tags (see page 3 for details), you will need volunteers to remove the tags and make sure we get them all back at the finish line. Smaller events generally need 2 or 3 volunteers at the finish line.An announcer is also an essential part of most events! If you have an announcer at your event, we will provide them with a microphone and participant information to announce finishers as they cross the line.

SPLIT LOCATION VOLUNTEERSIn very few cases we will count on someone from your team to start the race when at remote locations or oversee a split location.

The size of your event plays a major role in how many volunteers you will need. Please make sure to have a conversation with us about volunteer needs for your event.

FINISH LINE EQUIPMENT


We don’t expect you to supply the bear, but at most events we do need you to provide any equipment necessary to create a finish chute. In most cases, this consists of cones or construction candles and/or flagging.

We will always have a race clock, PA system with music (small to mid-size events) and tent for our results kiosk equipment, but sometimes our arches and feather banners are being used at other events. Please make sure to communicate with us what you plan on bringing to the finish line so we don’t double down or leave you wanting more!
