Several intermediate performance objectives and

corresponding criterion measures are listed for each of 12 terminal

objectives for a basic diesel mechanics course. The course is

designed as a two-semester (2 hour daily) course for 10th graders

interested in teing diesel service and repair_mechanics; it would

serve_as the first year of_a 3-year secondary school program. Based

on shop manipulative-practices in addition to related classroom

instruction, the focus of instruction is on use of tools and safety,

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is prepared to train students who are inter-ested in being diesel service and repair mechanics. Thecourse consists of shop manipulative practices in additioto related classroom instruction. Basic instruction in-cludes: use of tools and safety,_engine theory, terminology,main stationary parts, major moving parts, valve_gear andscavenging systems, fuel injection systems, burning thefuel, lubrication system, cooling system_and governoring.This prepares the student in necessarY skills, attitudes,technical knowledge, plus ability to get along with otherpeople.
