THE FIELD
There are 9 innings in a baseball game. Each team gets a turn to bat in half of the inning, while the other team is out in the field. The visiting team is first to bat while the home team takes the field and starts the game with the first pitch. Each team is allowed three outs in their half of an inning.

Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjack
I don’t care if I never get back
So it’s root, root, root, for the home team
If they don’t win, it’s a shame
It’s one, two, three strikes you’re out
At the old ballgame
Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjack
And I don’t care if I never get back
It’s root, root, root, for the home team
If they don't win, it's a shame
It’s one, two, three strikes you’re out
At the old ballgame

Dodgers Dreamfields are game-changers, revitalizing green spaces to help re-energize the community’s involvement in baseball and softball, while boosting the safety of local parks and providing a place where neighbors can gather, exercise and play. Dodgers RBIDodgers RBI is a sports-based youth development program for ages 5-18 that uses baseball and softball participation to provides kids with life-changing social and emotional learning opportunities. As they develop self-confidence and empathy through sport, LADF helps unlock access to health care and educational opportunities as well as provide a place where the kids can feel safe while they play and learn. 11,000 young Angelenos participate annually, playing across 85 locations. For more information, visit dodgers.com/dodgersrbi
LA ReadsLA Reads is a joint initiative with the LADF that inspires thousands of children to read year-round. An estimated 60% of kids in Los Angeles do not meet reading performance standards. Our goal is to change that by using the Dodgers’ historic brand to motivate young people to read and help them build a life-long love for it. Alongside the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and Los Angeles city and county libraries, kids are invited to local reading events with Dodger coaches, players, spouses, or alumni. During baseball season, students can track the time they spend reading in our “Dodgers Reading Champions” challenge. In 2019, kids read a total of 1.5 million minutes and more than 10,000 youth attended reading events across the Greater Los Angeles area. Join the reading challenge today at dodgers.com/lareads
