January 12 ~ The Feast of the Baptism of the Lord This feast of the Baptism of the Lord pre-sents us with the opportunity reflect on the importance of our own baptism. It is the sac-rament we receive only once but the graces of the sacrament continue to unfold through-out our lives. Spend some time in prayer with the reading from Isaiah in today’s Mass. As you read the passage, hear God speaking these words directly to you. Draw on the grace of your baptism to make these words live in your heart.

Youth Group Happenings
The Confirmation 2 class at St. Marks is hosting a win-ter clothing drive for Cra-dles to Crayons. You may drop off new or gently used children's clothing in the collection boxes in the back of the church or make a do-nation for our shopping trip at the end of the month so we can purchase their most needed items. Thank you!
Baptism of the Lord The story is told of a bearded priest who was baptizing a number of children in his large parish. Numerous siblings of the infants were talking and walking around, more interested in the stained glass windows and the back hallways of the sacristy than they were in the sacrament. At one point, a little boy finally noticed what was going on and, to everyone’s delight, yelled out loud, “Look! There’s Jesus giving my new brother a bath!” Baptism should never be taken for granted. The sacrament initiates us into the community of believers, but it is the family—the domestic church—that teaches the child about God, faith, prayer, virtue and grace. After the bath of baptism, the child is dressed in the robe of faith worn by those who promise to love the child and raise the child in the ways of Christ. The Church community also has an obligation to be people of faith, witnesses to the power of Christ in daily life. If our chil-dren cannot see faith in action, the best thing about church might be the stained glass windows. Baptism is the call to live a life worthy of the saints, sharing the gift we have received.
Looking Ahead: March For Life Thursday, January 23rd - Saturday January 25th Washington DC The youth group is going on a pilgrimage to Washington DC in January and it's going to be awesome.

các Hội Đoàn trẻ trình diễn được tổ chức ngay sau Thánh Lễ. Trân trọng kính mời quý ông bà anh chị em tới tham dự Thánh Lễ Tạ Ơn và Tiệc Mừng Xuân, để cùng với Cộng Đoàn đón mừng mùa Xuân mới của Đất Trời và giữ gìn truyền thống tốt đẹp của Dân Tộc. Chầu Tạ Ơn và Thánh lễ Giao Thừa sẽ được cử hành vào lúc 10:30 tối thứ Sáu ngày 24/1//2020. Thánh Lễ Tân Niên sẽ được cử hành vào Chúa Nhật ngày 26/1/2020 tức mùng hai Tết, và nhận Lộc Lời Chúa sau Thánh Lễ. Cha Xứ và Ban Mục Vụ trân trọng kính mời. 2/ Thông Báo: Đoàn TNTT và BGL sẽ cho các em nghỉ Tết vào hai Chủ Nhật kế tiếp 19 tháng 1 và 26 tháng 1. Mọi sinh hoạt sẽ được trở lại vào Chủ Nhật ngày 2 tháng 2/2020.

BÀI ĐỌC I: Is 42, 1-4. 6-7 Trí ch sách Tiên tri Isaia.
Đây là lời Chúa phán: "Này là tôi tớ Ta mà Ta nâng đỡ, là người Ta chọn, Ta hài lòng về người. Ta ban Thần trí Ta trên người. Người sẽ xét xử chư dân. Người sẽ không lớn tiếng, không thiên vị ai; không ai nghe tiếng người ở công trường. Người không bẻ gẫy cây lau bị giập, không dập tắt tim đèn còn khói. Người trung thành đem lại lẽ công bình. Người sẽ không buồn phiền, không nao núng, chỉ lo đặt công lý trên địa cầu, vì trăm đảo mong đợi lề luật người. Ta là Chúa, Ta đã gọi con trong công lý, đã cầm lấy tay con, đã gìn giữ con, đã đặt con thành giao ước của dân, và nên ánh sáng của chư dân, để con mở mắt cho người mù, đưa ra khỏi tù những người bị xiềng xích, đưa ra khỏi ngục những người ngồi trong tối tăm". Trong những ngày ấy, Phêrô mở miệng nói rằng: "Quả thật, tôi nghiệm biết rằng Thiên Chúa
không thiên tư tây vị, nhưng ở bất cứ xứ nào, ai kính sợ Người và thực hành sự công chính, đều được Người đón nhận. Thiên Chúa đã sai Lời Người đến cùng con cái Israel, loan tin bình an, nhờ Chúa Giêsu Kitô là Chúa muôn loài. Như anh em biết, điều đã xảy ra trong toàn cõi Giuđa, khởi đầu từ Galilêa, sau khi Gioan đã rao giảng phép rửa: ấy là Chúa Giêsu thành Nadarét. Thiên Chúa đã dùng Thánh Thần và quyền năng mà xức dầu tấn phong cho Người. Người đi qua mọi nơi, ban bố ơn lành và chữa mọi người bị quỷ ám, bởi vì Thiên Chúa ở với Người". Khi ấy, Chúa Giêsu bỏ xứ Galilêa mà đến với Gioan ở sông Giođan, để ông làm phép rửa cho. Nhưng Gioan can Người rằng: "Chính tôi phải được Ngài rửa, thế mà Ngài lại đến với tôi sao?" Chúa Giêsu liền đáp lại: "Không sao, vì chúng ta cần chu toàn bổn phận như thế". Và bấy giờ ông Gioan chiều ý Người. Chúa Giêsu chịu phép rửa, rồi bước lên khỏi nước. Này đây các tầng trời mở ra, và Người thấy Thánh Thần Chúa ngự xuống như một bồ câu và đậu trên Người. Và ngay lúc ấy, có tiếng từ trời phán: "Này là Con yêu dấu của Ta, Con đẹp lòng Ta".
