Often we hear a story about Jesus –

we know that Jesus is

with us in church.

The parents and godparents

promise to help the person being

baptized by praying for them

and teaching them about God.

Who helps you learn about God?

We light a

special candle.

The light of God can

never be put out.

We make the sign of the cross.

This is the sign of Jesus.

It shows that we belong to him.

We pour water into the font.

Like water, God’s grace makes

us clean, and gives us life.

We baptize

in the name of

the Father,

the Son

and the Holy Spirit.

We welcome the new members

of God’s family

We pray to God for those

who have been baptized,

and for their parents and godparents.

When we pray God hears us.

God says,

When Jesus was baptized, God said,

“You are my child, I love you, and I am pleased with you.” God says the same to you.
